Well, fair enough then. I personally found that the only reason I was killing bad guys and doing quests was to get loot and experience, so I could kill more bad guys and get more quests. That's why I, and a few other people I know, consider playing the game to be grinding.Yopaz said:I played through it alone and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I can't remember grinding at one point in the game. I went places and killed what I had to kill to get past, but I do the same in Batman Arkham Asylum, Super Mario Bros. and basically every other game except Deus Ex where I have as little contact with the enemy as possible while sneaking past guards.
I'll admit that it's repetitive, but I wont say that everything repetitive is considered grinding. I don't kill enemies because I gain experience, I kill them because they're in my way. I have also killed several enemies that had the warning sign that says they're too high level for me to beat. They're just a lot harder. I think when it comes down to it we do agree we just have a different definition of grinding. Where my definition is killing enemies only for the sake of gaining level.lunncal said:Well, fair enough then. If it's different for you, that's fine.
It's meant to be played multiplayer. Trust me on this.Burntpopcarn said:Okay, so i just noticed something: most people play borderlands with at least one other person. I myself just got borderlands, and i love the darn game, i even have a friend who i played it with, but for some reason my game bugged up and i ended up switching mission logs with him. so i started a new character and played by myself in single player, cause i'm not ruining another character because i'm playing online. so, people, is borderlands properly played alone or with at least one other person?
No, we seem to have the same definition, I just mean to say that to me all that I was doing in that game was grinding. Luckily grinding is perfectly fine with me when I'm playing with friends.Yopaz said:I'll admit that it's repetitive, but I wont say that everything repetitive is considered grinding. Everything attacking me I killed. Anything that didn't I decided to let live. Unless this enemy was either a quest objective or one marked too hard. I sure showed that village of "too strong" bandits who's the boss. I guess some of my reason for enjoying it is that I enjoy being the sniper just picking off enemy after enemy and see how many will die before they notice me and start running to get me.lunncal said:No, we seem to have the same definition, I just mean to say that to me all that I was doing in that game was grinding. When I was killing enemies and doing quests, I was just doing it for experience (and loot). I quickly stopped bothering to read the quest texts, and I really didn't give a damn about the "Vault" or whatever it was we were getting.
You say you killed the enemies because they were in your way, now I'm not actually sure exactly what you mean by that, but you definitely had some motive for killing them other than XP. I did not, and neither did my friends.
gee, i'd love to add you but i can't for two reasonsk3v1n said:I don't think there's a right way to play a game, and borderlands is no exception. I have to admit, although playing it alone isn't boring by any means, having a buddy back you up is much more entertaining. Also, you can plan strategies and compete, which is always fun.
At risk of sounding a cheap whore, if you play it on Xbox360 my GT is kevinzz. Feel free to add me
