Is CoD losing its charm and creativity?

Are we still talking about Call of Duty? Because I don't think "charm" or "creativity" where descriptions for this game I would use.

But if your talking about CoD (the divine Cod-Fish from the kingdom of insane turtles) then... yes... I feel his punishments of those who break his divine law are becoming a tad uncreative. Seriously, he used to really make people think about their crimes as he was brutally torturing them. Now it's just beheading all over the place with the occasional catapult. Simply depressing.

What 'charm' is there to find in sending little bits of metal flying through the squishy parts of people's heads?!?!

Games based on WW2 can't really be creative unless they're alternate reality...

MW1 was the only 'good' game out of the lot, COD1 & 2 were 'almost good', MW2 was 'bad' and BlackOps was plain obnoxious! (Based on PC single player only, which is the basis for which I form all my opinions for games.) Though admittedly, better than MOH (they released effectively two games and recycled them every few years)

CoD...creative?
LoL! I think they just copied the best out of all the shooter games, it's unoriginal and garbage on my opinion.
Charm? It's shooting people and running away.
That's like saving oranges have charm.

I still enjoy it, don't know if I will buy the next, but I will continue to play BLOPS.

also was this topic made just to get people to hate on CoD? We already have those daily, can't we get a break?

Am I the only one who thinks Black Ops had a decent campaign
Yes, compared to CoD 2 and 4 especially. The campaign was really pretty shit, it seemed to pander to people who went to see Motorcycle-Jump-Shotgun-Face-Explosion 4 at the movie theater, it has little actual story, no relatable charecters, was kind of predictable, and had almost no new features.

Don't get me wrong though, it was pretty fun if you didn't take it seriously, games that are shit can still be buckets of fun, I had lots of fun with Alpha Protocol and that games is shit to shit what shit is to good.

the quality of the series only got better and better until it hit CoD 4 (amazing game btw) but World at War just seemed lime a badly done copy and paste job where as MW2 was absolutely terrible with Black Ops being a slight improvment but still crap

i dont think its the charm and creativity gone out of it (tbh CoD didnt really do much new just everything up tp and including CoD 4 was well done) its just that they decided to give it horrible gameplay and realised that for at least 2 more installments (with the downward slope) it will still sell amazing but i wouldnt be surprised if its sales massively drop after that.

Nuketown + wager matches = fun!
I thin Black Ops is the best of the bunch.

The campaign kept me entertained and the story and characters kept me involved. I really loved the whole Cold War conspiricy story and the whole setup was fantastic. The Multiplayer is fair, fun and balanced unlike Modern Warfare 2 which really got on my nerves at some points.

What charm and creativity? To me, CoD never had much, if any, to begin with. Only good part is zombies. And that's starting to wear thin for me too.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

you must be thinking of something else.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts. While I really enjoyed CoD 4, the rest has been...MEH.

Alpha Protocol: One of my all time favorite "B-movie" games. It's so bad, yet somehow remains enjoyable.

Well it just hasn't improved since CoD 4. WaW and Black Ops were not improvements but just steps sideways. MW2 I won't even touch due to cut back features and lack of balancing. I don't think Black Ops is much better in online pacing though. The game has gotten too twitchy for the online but that is just me. There are still balance issues but those will always persist. Really as I said there has not been a lot of new features or anything since CoD 4. I think dualwielding, flamethrowers, leveled perks, customized kill streaks(oversaturation) and oversaturation of weapons that have become meaningless stats. That is about it.

"What did you say? I was to busy ballistic knifing you on Nuketown playing stick and stones."

OT: Yes its getting old, they should make it like SOCOM were you have everything but it all adds weight."

Black Ops certainly wasn't a brilliant game, but its not a bad one either.

As for fun? Noone cares about fun anymore, people either want to prove their 'L337 Sk1l1z' online or think that every game needs to have a brilliant story, characters, settings etc. That would be impossible in BO's case anyway, theres only so much you can do.

To the guys that killed fun, Fuck You.

Treyarch started it. Activision is currently wailing on a dead horse. Infinity ward put that horse out of it's misery with modern warfare 2 in my mind.

The fact that you're asking this question OP belies your small amount of time spent on these forums. We get people asking this weekly. The answer is yes, of course their creativity is slipping. They re-release the same game every year with minor improvements. Is it losing it's charm though? I would say not, otherwise nobody would be playing it.

Multiplayer-wise? Very Yes.
Fun as Black Ops was, I prestiged and just lost interest...
I'm pretty damn good, but it's just not fun. For no reason other than I've played it all before.

Campaign wise?
A little. Gameplay is always a bit same-y, but Black Ops played well enough with the new guns, and, for me, the gun noises (I love it that they actually sound like they're shooting bullets. Rather than MW2's BB guns.), and also new gameplay like the Helicopter.
Story, setting, and all that wise?
No. Setting, maybe, story-wise, no.
I can easily see MW2's current world shifting into a World-War 3 style one, what with the rest of NATO and Asia joining in the fight. I'd love to see some all-out warfare, but with Modern weapons.
I also think Black Ops' story is worth another two games, and I trust Treyarch will make them better than Black Ops.
If they focus more on SP, and keep MP as is other than a few new things like weapons, Killstreaks, perks, the usual shit, I'll be happy.
Hell, I'm only really playing Black Ops now because Capaign and Zombies are so fucking epic.
