Is Dead Space 2 scary?

After playing the demo, I can honestly say that, as hard as the game may have tried, it just didn't scare me, or even make me jump. There's just no atmosphere, and whenever monsters jump out of cryo-tubes or rush at you from the other side of a well lit room, it's always the same standard procedure: two shots to the leg, one to the arm. Repeat. And if you do run out of ammo for the plasma cutter, you're equipped with three other death machines that can either cut enemies in half with a single shot, shoot really fast or even nail your shambling foes to the fucking wall. Things do become a little less routine once the legion of zombie babies show up, taking things from dull to absolutely hilarious, as their limbs fly off and they flip around in the air after just a couple of plasma rifle shots.

Do you feel the same way, or did DS2 genuinely frighten you? And if you own the actual game, does it get better later?

Is holding a full loadout of futuristic weaponry in a sort of ironman suit and owning a gravity gun whilst crushing the necromorphs scary? Well, to me it isn't and Ive completed the game on Hardcore (more like marathon difficulty), the easy and fun thing about dead space 2 is that you dont have to use your ammo, I just threw pretty much everything at the necromorphs :)

Games that frighten me are like the fatal frame series... All you got is a frikkin camera :O

I played the demo and had a similar experience, but after playing amnesia the dark descent I don't think many games would scare me now.
