Is Diablo 3 the worst game ever in terms of price vs. quality?

I loved Diablo 2 (never played Diablo the original), I can remember my first experience with D2 the night before my final exam in my senior year at high school. I had studied all I needed to and then someone brought their PC to the hostel and I somehow got the opportunity to play D2 on their machine. I ended up playing the game I think all the way through to morning. I loved it, eventually got it for myself and played it years later in varsity many years after release.

You can imagine to my horror, after paying $63 (R530, South African Rands), when I discovered the incredibly poor server connection and service from Blizzard that causes a game that I would play just to have fun become such a chore! I have now kind of stopped playing Diablo 3 after only reaching level 18 with my Wizard.

The gameplay would be much better if I did not have a average latency of about 1 second at best (me slaying on or two monsters) or 4-9 seconds latency when I am slaying 7 or more monsters.

It is not my internet connection; playing Starcaft 2 at 4x4 does not create any lag like this. It's like the game starts of being behind?

For me this makes the game not worth the money and if I were Korean I would love to give my copy back to get a refund, worst buyer?s remorse in my life.

What do you think?

Which servers are you connecting to, Asia or Europe? I've heard Europe has all kinds of server problems. I personally haven't had any issues beyond a few lag spikes once in a while playing on the American servers from Virginia.

The game itself is awesome up until Inferno. I'm not even going to get started on why Inferno is retarded.

Play diablo 1 its the best by far.

I mean Diablo 3 they litterly used the same monsters, color coated them goblins and the same with using the same sprites for the miner quest and the act 3 merchant. The first dungeon in the cathedral in diablo 1 had more variety in monsters than this entire game. Edit: since you have not played they had "just for the goblins" brown fallen ones (brown), cavaler(blue) and devilkin(red) which were versions of the goblins you see in diablo 3 spread in all 3 acts.

Oh and just as salt on wounds there is no strategy in skills/spells/runes whatever. They are all the same, and tactics are down that creek no one swims in because they have removed all the diablo 2 imprisonments such as *immune to cold* for example so you can not adjust your spells in the midst of battle.

The only upside to this game was the plot, I am happy they managed to do this correctly but the gameplay is a shadow of its former glory.

"Drake of the 99 Dragons" was $60 when it originally came out, therefore no, Diablo 3 is not the worst game EVER in terms of price versus quality.

But were those games expected to be good games? I mean Diablo 3 was supposed to be one of the best games of the year, but rather it sucks big time!

Heh. Action 52 was on the NES. So apart from being a Nintendo Power Customer you couldn't really know what a game would be like. You had to judge from the game boxes backside alone in most cases or rely on friends' feedback.

It looked promising enough, but oh the horror once you started a few of those games.

But does that have anything to do with the original question asked?

Is the quality of a game determined solely by whether it meets expectations?

Nowhere near the worst game in terms of price vs quality. I'd put it way up the other end of that scale. I've never had any of the server issues that people seem to be having. I've connected to all three of the servers using my terrible net of 7-10Kb/s and I've had a good connection on all of them. So idk what the issue is with that.

You must either be lying or have terrible standards, because there is no way you could connect to three different servers that are half a world apart whith a 7-10kb/s connection and have no lag.

I live in South Africa, have to connect with European servers (10 000km away), with Star Craft 2 no problem, but with D3 it is a nightmare. The game is flawed, the client is flawed, the whole idea of always online SP is BS.

Even Eve online is not a problem and their server is in bloody Scandanavia!

Much of this could be sorted if Blizzard had allowed ppl to play offline.

Single player with lag, what a joke

I can't say I've ever noticed any significant lag. Server downtime yes (especially on EU), but when they're up they seem to work alright.

Why would I lie? I have nothing to gain by doing so. When did I say "no lag"? That means having a ping of 0 which is near on impossible when connecting to a server. I said I had a "good connection". You know, the bar that tells you what your connection is was green which I think is roughly 200 or less (might be wrong on that) but when I hovered over it to see what the actual ping was for a vast majority of the time it was 100-150. That's only a 0.1-0.15 second delay. Considering I've happily played fps' at around 300 (0.3 seconds) and recently minecraft at 500-700 (0.5 - 0.7 seconds) I'd say that 100-150 is pretty damn good.

To be fair to the dude he may not be lying, got friends in cape town who have been playing diablo 3 with no issues at all, abit harsh to be accusing someone in that way, just saying.

Anyway worst game in price vs quality? nah not diablo 3, the responses you get will all be down to personal prefrence and tastes (could be down to your personal setup).

For me personally? gonna have to go with final fantasy 13 having played 7-10 i was quite keen to give another final fantasy ago, my god was i disappointed :( it felt like i wasn't even needed for the combat just mash auto down the coridoors i was told it gets better but i shouldn't have to suffer 6 hours of boredom on a promise. £40 down the shitter x)

I reckon any game that has DRM should be cheaper because it's still bullshit to begin with.

In terms of quality, pretty average overall. Definitely not the worst though.

The worst I've seen so far is a Sonic game that makes you drag your character to the next the level on touch screen. You have to get a perfect line because if you screw it up even a little, you have to pull the line again.
