I always thought that the expression "all's fair in love and war" applied to love as the contest for getting the girl, sort of thing. Not that anything you do is fair in the context of a loving relationship: more that if two people are competing for the affections of a third, nothing is out of bounds.

Which I still disagree with.

I wish things were fair in love, my only girlfriend so far lives in Scotland so it fizzled out when we realised we couldn't carry on with a long distance relationship (still great friends though), last girl I liked is one of my flatmates and when I chickened out of asking her out she hooked up with another flatmate, and one girl I asked out a few years ago said no then started dating one of my close friends. So yep, things aren't fair in love, but I wish they could be.

I agree with this^. Though I have only ever said I love you to somebody once and have never said it to anybody else since.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. No holds barred when chasing the girl/guy.

But no, absolutely not. It should be (all fair in love), but there are so many double standards.

She said, "Things are gonna go
The way that they're supposed to go."
But I say, "No, things are gonna go
They're only gonna go."

Of course not. Otherwise I'd be dating someone hot and famous. . .
