Is Fluttershy the most mysterious of the mane 6?

Fluttershy seems to have the least amount of background of the mane 6. We don't know her family, we don't know her pastlife outside flight school, and her quirks like The Stare are almost never explained (Though the fact that she can't really control it might suggest that she has slight dissociative identity disorder). Plus, In episodes like Griffon the Brush Off, Crystal Empire Part 2, and Testing Testing 1, 2, 3, Fluttershy seems to repress alot of negative opinions. I'm willing to bet the writers are foreshadowing something about her. I actually think this is what makes Fluttershy a good character, her shy nature and mysterious past allow for a lot of headcannons and speculation.

Sure, there are all sorts of theories you can come up with and an incomplete story that leaves something to the imagination is always welcome - a lot of people don't really care what the truth is; they'd rather invent things.

I don't know that the word "foreshadowing" is really an appropriate word for anything on that show, though. Maybe it's taken a sinister turn of late, but it seems a little off-kilter.

Well if the lack of The Stare's origins, lack of family, angry/annoyed visual cues, and moments where Flutters goes into psycho mode are indication, There's probably something deeper to Fluttershy's past than the writers are lettering on at this point.

But surely, SURELY the writers are simply foreshadowing something about her, to do with her mysterious past (I suspect she suffers from slight disassociative disorder, personally).

I speculate in my headcannon that a Pinkamena copy escaped from the Mirror Pool.

No wonder there's nothing much interesting about her. On a more serious note, I don't think that the show foreshadows a lot. Sometimes things coincide, but actual foreshadowing? The only case I can remember is the spell book from Season 3.

As for Fluttershy, it's just that her characterization kind of hinges of showing she has a rather bad case of social anxiety, while she doesn't have much to show for herself in most situations (unless she engages desperation mode) - in fact, we see her interacting with the townsfolk in only one episode, and they treat her really badly there, and take advantage of her non-confrontational nature.

I don't think that's foreshadowing, and the lack of family ties and the like isn't really foreshadowing....it's just not important to the character.

The writers said that backstory for the mane 6 usually isn't revealed until it becomes relevant to the episode's plot. So its likely that Fluttershy's backstory (and by extension, the rest of the mane 6) is all planned out, but they're waiting for an episode to reveal more of it.

Yeah...she kind of is. I'm really interested in seeing why and how Angel became her pet, honestly. He's not just an animal she cares for like a bunch of others she has. Angel is her pet. There's a definite distinction between him and the others as far as Fluttershy is concerned. And despite how much of a jerk he is, he definitely seems to really care about Fluttershy too.

Also, that fang she apparently still has. The one from the episode she became a vampire. It was never explained.



Slightly Off Topic: Something not many people seem to realize is that she's definitely older than the others in the mane six.
