I've been seeing a lot of commercials for it lately and from what I've seen it looks like a Netflix version of games which sounds really good.

But I just realized that I've never met anyone who uses it, or even heard of anyone using it.

So I'm just wondering if there is anyone on The Escapist that uses it and if they like it.

Very good.

And you can buy the games to keep for DIRT CHEAP. Hell, the "keep it" price will have them mail you the case, and you keep the disc that was sent to your house, too. You can "keep" a new release for about $45, usually.

Sure, it's all used, and doesn't "support the industry". But fuck that. It's too cheap to ignore. I got Alpha Protocol for $10 about 6 months ago.

I didn't know you could buy games. Sweet, I'm getting this.

I heard Yahtzee say it was awful, and now I have a way to see if it is without buying it. Thanks

Its been a pain for me. Most of the time the new releases are all reserved, and aren't returned for a while. And older games aren't much better. I'm betting that the older a game is, the less copies they have. Which leads you to waiting many moons for a copy.

Might have changed in the pass year though.

Well, if you want a new release, try what I did.

Have your queue EMPTY except for that new release. Try and have had that new release on queue for awhile.

Have a free game slot (in other words, have your last game mailed back in time).

That's how I used to get games sent out on launch day.

I have it and love it. You won't get many hot-off-the-shelf games, but it's invaluable for playing games from a bit back. It definitely helps you widen your horizons, so to speak...

The only problem is that it's a bit slow. A week passing between putting the old game in the mailbox and getting a new one isn't unheard of, and sometimes your queue's priority system goes wonky.

Still, I would highly recommend it. I've played so many games that I never would have tried before, and I'm better for it.

They are extremely slow on the turn around times, ESPECIALLY compared to Netflix. Netflix, I send in a DVD, usually within 3 days I have a new DVD. Gamefly it's taken upwards of 6 days before. Gamefly definitely has a good selection, though it can be hard to get the newest, hottest games before they're not new and hot any longer.
