Depends;

You wanna just do random stuff? Or make custom games? Or have fun chat rooms? Then sure! Go for it.

You wanna animate with it? Then no. Source Filmmaker is free and it is much better to use.

Yes. So long as you have other source games to compliment it.

If you have Counter Strike Source make sure you look into Trouble in Terrorist Town, and I played Zombie Survival today as well which turns out to be pretty damn good, quite like running about as a headcrab jumping at crotches.

Perhaps if you already know what you want to do with it. I got it just because it's Gary's Mod, threw ragdolls around for about half an hour, then had nothing else to do.

I've always wondered about this and Counter Strike Source, they seem to have a huge fanbase but are they really that good? Can you have fun with just one or are both really necessary to enjoy, is Garry's Mod just an expansion or what?

Its like a massive sandbox, except instead of sand its Steams Source engine.

It's worth it. Also pick up Half Life 2 and Counter Strike Source because most content draws from those two games.

Some of the most fun I've ever had has been on Garry's Mod. After about 500 hours I recently discovered Trouble in Terrorist Town. I haven't had that much fun with a multiplayer game in a long time.

For me it is totally worth $5, that is less than two coffees.

More like or what. As others have said it is a sandbox, I played a lot of SpaceBuild in the day. Counter Strike: Source, well it's sort of unique, I've never had the reactions to be competitive in CS. If you ever want to get your arse handed to you in a humiliating way jump into Counter Strike 1.6 some time. You'll probably only want CS:S for the art assets to use in Garry's Mod, unless you have lighting reactions.
