well i think this comes down to the fact that i see halo 3 as a Hero's story where as ODST is more of something that normal people would be involved in.

I liked ODST's campaign in that is was killing and stealthy and sometimes very frustrating on Legendary (which i still need to finish) but my main point that i loved was the lack of the Flood. i personally hate the flood and try with all my might to never fight them if i can avoid it. ie: hijack a tank sheath, my way through the level etc. oh and the uber sniper pistol was an awesome plus.

I haven't played halo 3 very much except to complete it and finish the story for my self. as for the multiplayer, idk its not the saving grace of the game but its certainly not a down side either, i guess it just depends on if have the right people to play with.

Halo threads of any kind are generally looked down upon, because they pretty much always desolve into flame wars.

edit: as seen above, it is already starting.

Since your new, its probably a mistake, but for future reference, I suggest not making any Halo threads.

And to respond to your topic, I go with thenamlessguy

That's kinda annoying isn't it. I mean this is a website about games and we can't talk about a particularly popular game in fear of starting a flame war. But in answer to the question same as above.

ODST is a "stand-alone expansion" of Halo 3, and I treat it as such, but to answer this question I'd have to say ODST won in the uniqueness department and felt more like the plot of one of the novels than one of the games. It was deeper, and focused more on story development than series closure. As to the gameplay, I'd say it's a tie. ODST is fun and unique, H3 is fun and simple and lets you feel epic.

I agree with the general consensus here that ODST is the better game. I wouldn't know about the multiplayer online options, but the firefight mode with friends is a lot more fun than the multiplayer battles of Halo 3.

Isnt ODST, the same multiplayer as Halo3, except it has all the DLC included?
No ODST comes with Halo 3 multiplayer with all the maps but not include the story.

Halo3 ODST is better in story and charcters byt Halo3 win's with multiplayer.

Really? Because the only complaints I heard about the game was that it could have been cheaper.
Everything else was either sheer flamebait, similar to your post, or very small things.
But halo is popular and therefore must be dealt with an unrestrained, blind hatred. All the cool kids are doing it.

As I dislike xbox live I'm tipping ODST will be more to my liking (the annoying 'slow down' phases in halo 3 really killed it for me). I'll have more of an opinion after I've played it, I'm not spending $110 on and expansion. [small]Especially when I have so many platinum ps2/3 games to get through[/small]

So what you're saying by "no" is that ODST comes with the same multiplayer as Halo3, just with the extra multiplayer content added in?

I will spare you a very big talk about why halo 3 is not a perfect game.

But i will make it short.

Single player:Short,a little repettetive, didnt like the story,in the end mediocre compared to other games.

Mutliplayer:Almost flawless exept the constant 13 year olds whining in their mics.

Oh...
Yea...
Im a fucken idiot.

Anyways

Cons:
Single player:Short,Doesnt add that much,,Some dialoge is bad,not that different from halo 3 single player and its still too easy some times.

Multiplayer:Adds little, firefight is just a glorified Survival mode, communitys are ussually made of 13 year old kids.

Pros:

Single player:New protagonist, better story and pacing, the graphics are better, some cool yet minor additions.

Mutliplayer:Firefight is really fun,map packs,Almost perfect like the halo 3 mutliplayer.

I think ODST was meant to atract players to the halo franchice and it succeedes i guess.
But for halo 3 owners its not good enough.

Campaign wise: actually, Halo: Combat Evolved is better than Halo 3 and ODST's "Nathan Fillion in love" jumpy-plot-mess
Multiplayer wise: ODST - Firefight & Mythic Halo 3 Multiplayer disc including all DLC and three extra maps that aren't otherwise obtainable:

Citadel

Heretic

Longshore

I sold my copy of Halo 3 to my brother for $16 and went out and bought ODST mainly for the extra maps. Just rent Halo 3 for the Campaign if you want to see how it ends. You'll be playing with your Mythic Map disk indefinitely. You do need a Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, obviously.

I really don't understand why everyone is agreeing with what must be the most ill-informed advice ever.

Fact: Halo 3 ODST contains two discs:

- the ODST Campaign & Firefight cooperative multiplayer mode
- the Complete Halo 3 multiplayer experience where you play as a Spartan or an Elite, create your own maps in its Forge editor, play them with friends in Custom Games, review your matches in the Theatre, turn the whole thing into comedic over-dubbed Machinima and upload the end result to YouTube if you feel so motivated AND a key to allow you entry to the multiplayer Beta test for Halo: Reach.

There is no logical reason to recommend Halo 3's multiplayer over ODST. Yes, fighting as a Spartan on Valhalla is a lot more fun than being a weak-ass ODST facing unrelenting hordes of Covenant (with randomly enabled Skulls changing the gameplay) in Firefight, but you get to do all of that and more with ODST's second disc - all it lacks is Halo 3's somewhat meh campaign.

I feel almost certain that TheNamelessGuy got them mixed up... and it should have been:

Campaign wise: Halo 3
Multiplayer wise: ODST
This I could understand (but not wholly agree with, because everything went sour with the Halo 2 campaign and only slightly improved with 3.

By the way, I think it is stupid that everyone here is so snooty about discussing one of the most played games in existence. Dumb elitism...

Graphics: Both
Gameplay: Both (ODST wins if you like the different approach to it)
Campaign: ODST by a mile
Multiplayer: Halo 3. No matchmaking in Firefight is fucking stupid.

I may be wrong (I don't have a 360) but doesnt ODST include all of the Halo 3 multiplayer? If so, and the campaign is better, and also it has good features, doesnt that mean that ODST is a better game over all?
