Is humanity doomed?

There was a podcast I heard once where a panel of scientists were discussing the oil situation. They said that at the rate we're going we have oil to last hundreds of years, they ended on saying "They didn't move on from the stone age because they ran out of stone, they found an alternative".

So in terms of oil I'd say no we aren't doomed. And like Carl Sagan said "If we do not destroy ourselves, I feel that a more glorious dawn awaits us". Oh and just for the record OP mad max 2 kicks ass!

I was watching the road warrior recently (great movie if you havnt seen it ) and i was thinking... what if we run out of fuel to even leave the planet in case we need to do so? we are high past peak oil, and personally, i think this is the beggining times for the ending of all civilization. your thoughts/ feelings/ comments?

If only we could use poor grammar as a fuel source, we would have enough power to run EVERYTHING indefinitely.

At any rate, it won't happen simply because Mel Gibson would use his powers as a holy paladin to have God make more fake dinosaurs and plant them in the ground to use as more fossil fuel.

But since that's utter bullshit, it's more likely we'd just figure out renewable resources.

I hope humanity is fucked, after the thorough fucking we've given this planet and every species on it, including our own. Then again, I'm pretty much an amused observer, for the most part, so while this 'once promising species circles the drain', I'll be over here, laughing and getting drunk.

I'm actually not worried at all either way. You guys are pretty fucked, but I live on an island with abundant natural resources, temperate weather, and can only be accessed by boat or plane. So yeah, I really don't care.

Sadly, the need of the Market is what dictates our collective future direction. If it's not profitable, it's not feasible. Not to say there isn't a drive for the future in some form. Goodness no! There's profit in the future; and the most profit goes to the one that gets there first.

Again, that isn't necessarily true.
Regulations and such are designed to force the market back to the needs of the people.
They must merely be applied judiciously.

I've worked the market for some time. Don't let "rules" and "regulations" fool you. It's profit, and all about it.

Humanity is Doomed. Humanity is always been doomed since the start of humanity. Perhaps in a few million years - if we've not killed each other by then - the sun will either be too far away to give the planet energy or will be too close and will slowly burn everyone to death.

But running out of fuel? that's the least of our issues. Frankly, If we did get in a spaceship - where would we go? It's not like we have cities on the moon?

Maybe we do... Maybe I've not been paying attention.

Anyway, Humanity = Doomed. Fuel = Relatively Plentiful At the moment.
