Never read through IGN comments.

No matter the game or score, if it's an exclusive for a platform you will get at least twenty comments of 'OMG SONY PAID YOU GUYS' or 'HOW MUCH DID MICRO$OFT PAY YOU FOR THIS REVIEW????'

Bias is inherent in form. What I don't like is when IGN supports console wars with articles about which system is better, how Game A on the 360 is better than Game B on the PS3 (or vice versa). There's no integrity in that kind of writing.

Saying journalism (a review no less) is biased is like saying light is shiny. It's an overly simplistic and inherently obvious thing to point out.

Mind you, I personally think IGN is one of the more objective review sites, but I don't really read reviews (barring Yahtzee) all that often.

No reviewer is without bias; But I will say that I don't listen to IGN anymore because of their making the two piece for Gears popular. They also give incredibly annoying camping spots in their videos...
But as far as review bias, yes, they are, but so is everyone.

Every review IGN has ever given has been biased towards the 360

For whatever reason, be it being paid off or because they see something superior with it (possibly due to IGN being run primarily by retarded frat boys), they find everything the 360 does to be better than PS3

That is why I can't stand them .

Also because of this:

yes. IGN is very biased. have you ever noticed how strongly backed by corporate advertisements they are? it should be obvious. :/

besides that, they said InFamous is better than prototype.

no. its not. both games should be judged independently of each other as each game has its own strengths and weaknesses. shows a PS3 bias right thar.
It's funny, because this thread would show a 360 bias, wouldn't it? I, personally, favored InFamous much more than Prototype. Ps3 bias right thar? Perhaps, but only because I felt it was the better game.

Seriously, I do not get why people always complain about "bias" and "favoring" and all that. Of course a review is going to be biased, it's made by a human, and if you happen to like/not like the game that they don't like/like, then all of a sudden "OOOOOHHHHHH, U SO BIASED, YOU JACK OFF TO 360/PS3 MORE THAN PS3/360, FANBOIES, BRIBERY!"

Reviews should be taken on a case-by-case basis. You should not look at one review and then decide on the game based on that one review. You should look at many different reviews for different perspectives. If the majority say that the controls are bad, take that into consideration. If a minority say that the story is great, but a majority say it's awful, take that into account.

Yeah, until some nerd develops a review making robot that can watch/play and effectively critique a movie/game, then alot of reviews are going to be a little biased.

It's the reason alot of people trust forums more than professional reviews.

Personally I refuse to believe that a game should ever genuinely warrant a perfect score. Mostly because no game is inheritly perfect.
I get what you're saying, but I do think it's a little bit bullshit that a 'con' of the game is that a previously Microsoft exclusive game coming to PS3 is "Late to PS3". What the hell did they expect? It's fucking amazing it even got to PS3 in the first place, what with Microsoft's vice-like grip on whatever comes out on their consoles first.

lol sorry to go off on a tangent, I just hate IGN's bullshit review style. I reckon the only reviewers I trust are Bajo and Hex from Good Game.

You think IGN is biased because they didn't give a 0.5? Thats pretty dumb. Now if you haven't already, go pick it up and play an awesome game and see for yourself why its an amazing game.

They seem to be just as biased as any other outlet one would go to for reviews, like Game Informer or the Escapist... Zing!

They have a little biase but it is human nature. (The only thing that actually bugs me is when stuff is multiplatform and they put it in the PS3 section. just a pet peeve though)

After Watching a Video Review of the ps3 version of Mass Effect 2 They gave it a 9.5 And one of the Cons were 'Late to PS3' Even through he talks about how this is one of the best versions with ALL the Dlc put into it. so we lost 0.5 because we were late.

Im not angry about it just seems a little unfair.
What do you expect? Can anyone really be non-biased? The person who reviewed the game probably is a PS3 fan, it doesn't really reflect the opinion of the entire company.

Though the fact that they released the review as is does raise a few questions.

I think he means is do they really review everything fairly. Personally, i think not. Any site that gave final fantasy 13 as good a review as they did cant have been fair. As far as biased? yeah, but as skull said, bias is human nature.

Indeed. Most reviews from companies backed by big corporations are biased but only to a certain extent. Did you hear about the Gamespot reviewer who got fired for giving a bad review for a game that was an advertiser for Gamespot? - exactly.

Actually on most review sites a perfect score actually just means that whatever flaws a game has is overshadowed by how well it does everything else. But i will agree that IGN isnt the most reliable site for reviews
