I'm not saying I hate every game after 2005, (there is a large variety of good games), but mainly, for me, a game is fun if it is an original idea, and there aren't that many being made anymore.

There are good games in EVERY time period, but don't make mass generalizations.
Well, it's not like all the industry execs got together and said 'Hey, starting in 2005, let's deliberately stop making games that are actually fun'. I'm sure you could find plenty of games made before 2005 that weren't fun, and lots made after that which were.

Some games are good, some are not... Goes for all years. I used to be easier to entertain before tho, games I used to love frequently don't do it for me anymore.

It's mainly nostalgia. That said, I do think that mediocrity has been on the rise in the past few years, due primarily to sequelitis and formulaic-ness (not a word, but you get my meaning) in the face of huge development costs. Good games are still being made.
I agree if you put massive quotation marks around "realistic". Games like Call of Duty aren't at the realistic end of the scale, they're around the middle in the "sorta, kinda realistic when it suits us" category. I do think we need fewer war FPSes, whether they be historic or modern-era.BJ777 said:

Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, Starcraft 2, Batman, Arkham Asylum, Bioshock, Left 4 Dead, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Uncharted (if you like that sort of thing), Gears of War (same), Several Tomb Raider games, Saints Row 2, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Metal Gear Solid 4, most of Guitar Hero and all of Rock Band.
And the absolute crowning example which hardly need be even said:
PORTAL you daft nonce.
So there's a bunch of great games that came out post 2005. Take your nostalgia goggles off and come join us in the glorious seventh console generation.

Wow. I forgot that 2005 just had a steady stream of classic games right from the start but all the lousy launch titles for the 360 sort of spoilt the end. It seems like there are very few "must buy" games coming out over the past couple of years for me compared to that year.
