I got guild wars when it first came out and I still play it from time to time. You can customize your characters a lot and chance they're skills constantly in towns. So you'll have pretty good variety in gameplay. Aside from the original campaign you level up very quickly. The focuses a lot on player skill. PVP is fun too.

I think they still have a free trial. Give that at go and see if you like the gameplay and interface.

Not as many people play now but you should still be able to get a group and you can get henchmen to make soloing easy.

I think it's a good game, it's a fun mmorpg, but not a disgusting WoW clone. Each of the four games gives you some new content that isn't just a shiny new sword. Classes are fun, even if you get tired of being a lvl 20 ranger take a sideclass of mesmer, gain all the skills and mix it up. Also best selling point is a Jingle Bear!

It bored the crap out of me.

I like that they made AI characters for when you don't have a group for stuff, but i don't like that you're totally useless not in a group. It sits in my steam account uninstalled, probably stay that way forever.

I grabbed the pack on Steam, is a good game, even if oddly clunky in some ways. I'd grab it if you had friends doing the same because it IS still an MMO at heart, so playing solo is an easy way to get bored.

The jingle bear demands friends for play, and a ranger, and the animal charm skill, and an add-on, and... Damn the Jingle Bear! Still, it's fun to have literal guild wars.
