I haven't played it yet, but my friend has yet to shut up about it. Its apparently a big problem in the area of schizophrenic difficulty curve. The test drive thing is a load of bullshit.

All in all, its opinion about this kind of thing, no right or wrong.

Meh, I bought it and it hasn't exactly "wow'ed" me, but its a solid game. You can do alot worse than Mercenaries 2. My brother and I play together mostly and I've just been helping him out on his missions, so I've yet to actually see any story progression in my game but oh well, I just like blowing stuff up from time to time, its a guilty pleasure thats all.

I was suspicious that the commercials didn't show any game play footage. Usually not a good sign. But commercials for Halo never did either, so I guess that's not an indication of anything.

And I believe it comes out Tuesday in the states. I work part time for a Big Box store of a certain color and we have boxes of them in the storeroom but they're not out on the floor yet.

The game is not without its flaws. Some of them a tad bit more annoying than others (The look and speeed of bullets, the voice scripts, and the destructibility of certain objects)
All in all, the game isn't awful. It is fun, but with some flaws that seem to stick in the back of your head. My biggest problem with it, was the way it prevented you from exploring certain parts of the map. You lose connection with your GPS, thus losing your own vision, and suddenly run into a invisible wall. Still fun though.

In the original, if you went too far out of the map, you would get attacked by bombing airplanes. But if you had the invincibility cheat on, you could make it all the way out and past the map and turn around to see (through) the backside of the mountain. It was pretty cool.

Holding down the Y to pick up ammo sucks. And the voices do get annoying after a while. other than that not a bad game.

"that bad?" - who said it was bad? The game is fucking FUN.

BUT

it lacks so much polish, they got so many voice actors to say the SAME 5 LINES OVER AND OVER, the AI is STUPID, majority of the time they kill themselves, like jumping off a building to get to you, or firing a rocket launcher at you, even though they are behind cover.

Vehicle damage is inconsistent - did a car ram into you? No damage...did you hit a fire hydrent? 2 damage. This shit can happen in a tank too.

RENT FIRST!
