I just downloaded the Beta and it asked me to make a profile. I complied, but now it says I can't play unless I go online, and I can't go online without paying. Pretty much everyone I know that is playing didn't spend a dime on the game. Are they just playing illegal torrented versions or am I just missing something here? It seems a little weird to be paying for a beta.

There is a free version on the site but you can't really do much in it. if you buy it now while it's in Beta it's cheaper. If you had bought in the Alpha it was even cheaper....er.

Well yeah you pay for it. You're buying the game. It's continuously being built upon and updated by Notch and Co. Buying the beta means you don't have to buy the finished product.

The beta will be updated over time and will rise another 5 euros once it's finished. It's still worth it.

There's a shitty (by comparison) free version on the main site. But in order to place the REAL version of the game, you have to pay 20$. If they're playing the beta for free, they pirated it.

Do Notch a favor, though. It's just 20 bucks. Come on man. Just pay it.

Yeah I'm not a dick when it comes to piracy (god save the queen and all :p) but this dude made the game all by himself. So he's not a big game developer, an independent for a change.

Minecrack is well worth the price. It will make hours of your life vanish, as if they were never there.

Buy it...
