i have thought of buying a NDS for a long time now but then i saw that the new DSi has come to the market. seems like its supposed to be some gaming phone that can't call people (dunno if it can send text messeges). i also saw that it costs a hell lot more than the usual NDS.
i checked on pricerunner.se and found out this
nintendo DS: about 1500 SEK (Swedish crowns)
nintendo DSi: about 2000 SEK

1 USD = 7.68 SEK
1 EUR = 10.94 SEK

so should i buy the NDSi?

I have a dsi and i think its worth it. the ability to download games and take pictures is great and the screens are bigger and brighter. If it is too expensive for u then get a ds Lite its about $120 american compared to the dsi's $180. DONT GET A REGULAR DS. they suck, u can barely see the screen

Ya the camera is really good an you can just use a regular camera memory card and use that to transfer them

Well, it all depends on if you already have a DS and what condition it's in. I got mine because my l, r, and select didn;t work. With the trade in of my last Ds, I think it was worth it.

Heck i say no get the DS Lite and i dont even own either handheld but from observation i think the DSi is just a DS with added stuff. the games still work the same so in hindsight whats the point

If you have an original (like I did) Then get it. But if you have a Lite you might need to think about it. The DSi is a great upgrade. But it's all on your diction. The DSi ware channel is not great. it's going to take a while before it's well stocked with good games like Wii. The photo channel is fun for those times you need a camera or if your just bored. The sound channel is just random. The browser is not that worth it. I come to the escapist on my DSi and it's hard to post because memory fills up quickly! The GBA slot is replaced with a SD card slot which i'm fine with. but if you play Pokemon then keep your old DS because you'll need it for that. So if you think about getting a DSi you might want to wait a while because remember it's just came out so it's not at it's best yet.

I think the physical construction of the DSi is very nice. DSlites are very cheaply made. However, I think I still vote DSlite because that one GBA slot means backwards compatibility, optional rumble pack, game data transfer (Pokemon, other bonus items for having an original GBA games) and Guitar hero. There is also that memory cartridge for internet browsing, but the DSi has that built in.

If you're into flash carts, there is a 3-in-one card that does the rumble pack, GBA games, and memory card functions. It's also designed to be flush with the DSlite's edge, so it's like that fake spacer cartridge that comes with the DSlite. None of that is offered by the DSi. The only real feature advantage the DSi has at this point is the downloadable games, and camera, and those are yet to prove themselves (to me).

So it boils down to:
Superior construction: DSi
Superior features: DSlite

Is it worth what?

If you have an original DS then I would say its replacing it with the DSi. However the same cant be said for trading in a DS Lite for a DSi.

If you don't necessarily care about the lack of a GBA game slot then there is no harm in buying a DSi. It's a decent purchase for people who have never owned a DS, BUT with the release of the DSi the Lite has gone down in price. So buying a Lite would also be good as it's cheaper and you can play GBA games if you so desire. If money is no problem then the DSi is fine, either way you can't go wrong.

I vote do it. I bought mine and I love being able to download games. I also love that if I take pictures I can save them onto a ds card and move them to my phone or computer. The screen is nice and bright too.

What I really like is they moved the power button. No more accidentally turning it off.
