Is Nintendo moving backward?

So last night I was staring at the celing, reminiscing about Freedom Force for the NES
when something occured to me: the retro "Nintendo Zapper" knew exactly where on the screen it was pointing! no sensor to put on the tv, no motion plus. Back then games ran through your tv cable so in essence the only interaction between tv and console was audio and video.

Yet somehow I could point my orange light gun at an 8bit terrorist and expect them to die. God help you if you sit too close or at a funny angle while playing the wii or you'll have a hell of a time even trying to find your curser

just sayin'

No it didn't. The Zapper was a light gun: you could point it at a lightbulb and keep racking up points. It had no clue as to where you were pointing it.

The Wii, on the other hand, does know where you're pointing, provided it's on the screen. With the Motion+, it also knows at what orientation the remote is.

So, overall, I think that Nintendo is moving forward, not backward.

Look at your screen when you pull the trigger on the light gun. See the white box that appears around what you should be shooting? (Espically in duck hunt!)

Thats what it senses.. not anything actually THERE per say..
