Well it's down to one thing in my opinion.

Why pay for the stuff, when you can stream it free?

I am of the firm belief that online gaming has done nothing but help the porn industry. Think about it... sitting there, waiting on yer 25 man raid to start, already geared and ready to go... what else are you gonna do and pass the time with? Right?

As for people mentioning porn MMOs, yes, they already exist. Sociolotron is one that springs to mind, then there's Furcadia for those of a more...specific...sexual preference. Those are just two I know off the top of my head, but I seem to recall one called Red Light or something like that.

Most excellent. The porn/gaming combo is what gave Blu-Ray the edge over HD DVD, and now they're getting in a fight over the house payment. One wonders how this is really going to affect the market--new hybrids, a supremacy of one o'er the other, or maybe something else entirely...

There's a wonderful moment at the end of the hilarious puppet-based musical Avenue Q when Trekkie Monster (having earlier proclaimed that "The Internet Is for Porn" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiFD6EFVsTg])
I fraking love you now.

[sub]I kid I kid.[/sub]

OT: But did you really expect porn to do well now?

Just because the internet boosted its accsessability doesn't mean that it exactly makes money, like you stated with all the free sites being posted up.

[sub]Besides... just go to 4chan once a week for 1 month and you will probably fill a good number of 16 Gig USB keys worth of porn. If you save it all.[/sub]

It's not killing porn, it's killing the revenue-earning porn. Subscription-based, online gaming costs a pretty penny, and since the gamers are on the intertubes anyway, they may as well not waste their money on porn when they are a quick google search from it for free.
Not to mention all of the free porn sites there are. (freeporn, redtube, youporn, pornhub, etc) which offers the same thing for the universal boner inducing price... $0.00! Unless you want HD but really you get the same thing only in a higher resolution. NOT WORTH IT!

I don't think I've ever spent anything on porn. But quite a lot on gaming.

In all seriousness though, the actual stuff won't die, but the industry will change rapidly. Think of Radio and Theatre after the widespread avent of TV. They had to work out what they could offer that was DIFFERENT from the new stuff (new stuff being free online things, in this case)

I'm dreading the idea that somebody might think of combining the two...

...........How would you even advertise that?

Gamming isnt killing porn, its suicide and the internet. Porn is being put up online for free and it's because of that that theyre suffering. Why the fuck do I want to pay 5 bucks for some tail when I can search for it for a couple minutes to an hour maybe for the right stuff...and when I do I get the satisfaction of porn and accomplishing something. Win win.

Porn's been diluted by divide-and-conquer more than by online gaming. These days, there are so many weird-ass ways to find fetishes online that it's only a matter of time before a Futurama-esque "don't date robots" attitude takes over when Sims 5 is so realistic and the "adult" mods so convincing that...y'know what? I've said too much already.

... yes.

I'd rather get free porn and pay for my games.

A lot more work went into the production of the game.

And guy below me(on ths forum page), pornhub has annihilated hte need for paid for stuff.
