Is platforming on 3D games really hard?

Mostly it's just Yahtzee but I don't have much memory of 3D Platformer games, maybe Spyro but not much else. (As in a game in a 3 dimensional world) so I can't be certain.
DO platform really not work in a 3D world?
My main reason is for a game idea I have in a 3D environment, there's lots of platforming and I don't want it to be a problem. however here are some parts of the game-play to better understand.
1: player has perfect camera control, you can rotate it all around your character.
2: Your jumps are roughly three times your characters height
3: Jump arcs are smooth and you can control your trajectory mid air
4: there are ledges, however there's no problems with grabbing the ledge, your character will grab on to the ledge when he gets close while airborne,
5: later on you can get several upgrades, including a double jump, air dash(hit a button and you immediately dash forward, without any descent.) and a glide (fly forward, and your descent is decreased drastically)

If these are put in place will the platforming work?

Also please avoid quoting my Post, I can figure out your replying to it.

Wait, are you asking if 3D platformers work?

Well, they were pretty much the staple, go-to genre of the last console generation... So yeah. They work.

You know, I wasn't gonna but you tempted me :) (Reverse psychology and everythin')

There are a-lot of 3D platformers, many of them being from the last generation (They are still around but have become mixed into other game elements; kind of like RPGin')

The Sony exclusive 'Little Big Planet' (1 & 2) is the most recent one(s) I can think of and it was pretty fantastic.

Well you certainly got the right approach.
But the camera is essential (main reason 3D platformers usually fail), yes the game should allow full camera control but it should never be need, because we want to play not go out of our way to manage the view.
Just keep in mind that judgment in space and timing will be the key skills players will rely on through the entire game, messing up the camera will render those useless.

I would suggest you get a couple of good 3D platformers and learn what they figured out already (my first choice would be Prince of Persia: Sands of Time series)

Look at MineCraft, not exactly easy is it.

BUT, you can only jump one or two blocks and the sprint jump is a bit dodgy so assuming you have easier jumping then I'm sure it would be fine.

I often feel like I have to much control while jumping. It often feels more like moving my mouse coursor across several points on the screen than actual jumping. SotC did it really well imo, the game being essentially a puzzle-platformer, where jumping was risky but rewarding.

The platforming in Crash Bndicoot 1,2 and 3, Jak and Daxter 1,2 and 3, Sly Copper 1,2 and 3 and pretty much every Ratchet and Clank game had great 3D platforming.

Yeah, R&C and Jak are more platforming/shooter but they still had a lot of platforming aspects.

So yes, there are good platforming games that are in 3D and it;s entirely possible to make them.

Depends on the perspective being played from:

3rd person jumping? No probalo. Though I have over a decade practicing so maybe I'm just used to it.

1st person jumping? If you aren't a Metroid Prime game, go die in a fire. When you can't see your damn feet, you have no place jumping. At all.

Platforming from a first-person perspective can be confusing because you have no idea how you'll end up landing. This is because it's hard to estimate exactly where your feet are in first person.

Anyone who says 3D platforming in general doesn't work, however, needs to take a look at any non-spinoff 3D Mario game released the last 15 years.

Pick up almost any Mario game in the last 10 years. They work.
Other games that work: Jak and Daxter, Little Big Planet, Prince of Persia, and probably a lot more that I can't think of it.
