Incredibly, almost insultingly, easy game. I beat it in one-two hours tops... Yeah.

I found Portal 1 had like the perfect difficulty curve. Portal 2's difficulty stemmed from trying to find the next spot on the wall to place the portal. I can't tell you how many times I died because I exhausted every resource until I finally discovered one hidden piece of wall.

Any difficulty encountered will be responded with

"Wait, how did I miss THAT? I'm a goddamn retard."

The first one? I only found two rooms hard. The rest is cake(No pun intended), more or less.

it's not hard at all. there are a couple puzzles that will give you pause, but you should be able to figure them out... portal 2 is annoying because sometimes it's impossible to figure out where the hell you're supposed to be going for the next level, but aside from that no it's not difficult.

Started off quite easy but gradually graduated to fairly challenging but I felt the last level dragged on for a bit too long.

The first 10 or so chambers in Portal are very easy - they are designed to be. The first 2 hours of Portal are supposed to be a drawn out tutorial - once you finish the first 2 hours of Portal, you should be equipped to handle any other challenge the game throws at you. The last "proper" chamber and then the portion after that can be challenging - but if you stare at it and think a bit, you should be able to solve it relatively easily.

The game basically programs you to be able to solve the last few challenges - that's how well designed it is. As long as you are of average intelligence (and most people are), you'll have no problem with it.

If it takes longer than 6 hours to figure out the solution to the chambers... consult a physician.

Portal 2 is kinda like the "Advanced chambers" in Portal, meaning it's a bit harder and a bit more restrictive, but it's still easy. Portal is a breeze.
I found Portal 2 to be easier than the original, and that's without even taking the advanced levels in to consideration. I loved Portal 2, but I did find the puzzle element underdone.
I've heard some people say the same thing there. It might just be me who is weird, I guess. I wasn't stuck for more than a minute total in the first Portal game, everything just obvious to me. I got stuck a few times in Portal 2 though, I dunno. Maybe I'm just dumb. =(
It was probly because of the long walking sections inbetween the puzzle rooms. I brezzed through all of Portal 2 as I found it easier but there where times when I was like "Where am I ment to go?", while I never had that problem in Portal 1
I see. Well, that wasn't really a problem for me at all. I meant I got stuck on a few puzzles. Hell, I even remember why I got stuck, and when I figured it out, I felt so incredibly stupid.
Well actually that happened to me once on really simple 'place 2 portals and your done' puzzle........I went and cover the area in repulsion gel and spent 20mins jumping around the place

As long as you don't get dizzy from first-person perspectives and you understand how the game's portals work, you should be able to beat the game within 3-6 hours. You may have to stall for a few minutes to figure out a specific puzzle, but other than that the game isn't very challenging.

It's easy, if you get how it works.
It can be played really fast if you rush through it and know the puzzles.
If you don't know the puzzles or are in no rush, it takes about 9 hours.
Nine hours?! Wait what ? For portal 1 ? Noooooo way . 5 hours at most , but essentially the game is 2 and a half hours long .

OT : well most likely your are doing it wrong , my suggestion is to think ahead before using portal , look at the level and where u want to go , the rest should be cake.

Well, I didn't exactly hurry through the game...
Quite the opposite in fact.

There are a few situations when I think that perspectives that you're not taking in when looking around a room can make you blind to what you need to do unless you mess around for a while, especially towards the end.

Some of the techniques you learn to do with Portals can also be somewhat challenging to replicate if you are new to gaming.

Overall, I would call it an easy-to-normal game. You will screw up a few times, the game will kill you a few times. If you're smart enough to keep trying, you should beat it. Just retain persistence.

The later stages can be a little challenging, but it's not that difficult to be honest. Clocked it in 2.5 hours. T'was fun though, and the challenge rooms are a nice touch.

It's only hard if you over-think it or make it more complicated than it actually is. The hardest parts are outside the test chambers because you have to play where-waldo for walls you can portal gun and actually work out where you're meant to go.
I believe you're thinking of the second game. You know, where you just look for the one portal surface in a huge room. There's less of that in the first.
