Is Red vs Blue the best thing about Halo?

I played Halo once, for about ten minutes. I thought it was terrible. Then a while later a friend of mine turned me on to Red vs Blue. Although I think Halo sucks, I do apprecaite it's creation because without it I would have never been able to enjoy a great and hilrious 8 seasons. (9 starting soon)

I would rather play Halo as one of the characters from Red V Blue. The storyline is better, the dialogue is better, the characters are better and the voice acting is top notch. None of these things can actually be said about Halo.

If there was a Red vs Blue campaign in Halo Reach, I would likely go buy an Xbox.

Are you trolling?

Play the game for more than ten minutes, then maybe I will take your opinion more seriously.

Also, yeah, RVB is awesome.

Holy crap I have the exact same mindset, bossdirge (OP). I've never really liked Halo. In fact, I think Halo may have been the shooter that turned me off from shooters for good. I sucked at it, and just really didn't like anything about it.

But at the same time, Red vs. Blue is one of my favourite things-- ever.

I love the story, I love the humor, I love the characters. I've never gotten so invested in one little episodic series as I have with RvB.

When someone showed me a live-action Halo movie trailer, all I could think of was how much better it would have been if instead of being based around the Halo games and Master Chief, it was based around Red vs. Blue.

While I know it's not true for a lot of people, to me the best thing that ever came out of Halo was RvB.

I would contribute something to this topic, but it would be pretty much a carbon copy of this. You read my mind, Stammer.

Yes it is. And that's coming from a Halo Fanboy.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play with my Puma Warthog and Meta Jun action figures...

Honestly, I've almost stopped playing halo as a game and started regarding it as a Machinima tool.

And yes, RvB is the best thing to come out of halo.

I remember playing Halo and getting bored with it soon after. But, about a year ago I was turned onto Red vs. Blue and found a sudden love for the Halo series. Enough to where I actually bought Reach and ODST.

Reach was a great game, but going and playing the different entries in the series again...I realized the only thing I liked about Halo was RvB. For me, it's the only redeeming factor of the series. The Halo story is bland, characters are boring, there's not much substance outside of the multiplayer. Without RvB it'd just be another FPS. (For me at least, but I've never been a big FPS fan)

You strike me as one of those people that have sex only once, sex which last for 5-10 minutes and is so awkward that they forever denounce it. Then they switch to porn and claim it is the best thing ever, never changing their opinion about the real thing even though their only experience with it was way too little to make proper judgment about it. And so they jerk off in all eternity, never getting laid again.

Why yes, I did insinuate that you are terrible in bed. That's what I do

Also, Red VS Blue is fun. For a while. Then it gets a bit boring. Then fun again. Then it makes no sense
Have I ever told you how much I missed your humour? Because I did.

OT: While I can not speak for your experience with Halo (10 minutes? Really?), Red vs. Blue is very funny. It is not the best part of Halo, though. Halo is the best part of Halo.

No.

I know other people will have differing opinions and all but this is a really flame-bait topic. Red vs Blue is a great series, very funny, and I enjoy it whenever I watch it, but as a fan of Halo I have to say that it is not the best thing about the game series, or to come as a result of the game series.

Just because other people like something that you thought was terrible does not make you right and them wrong, and there will be things you like which other people think are terrible. Why can't we all just live and live and not

CONSTANTLY WHINE ABOUT A GAME SERIES THAT HAS BEEN TALKED ABOUT SO OFTEN ON THIS FORUM I FEEL LIKE TAKING A POWER SANDER TO MY FACE EVERY TIME I SEE THE WORD 'HALO' ARISE

?

RvB is the best thing that came from Halo. The second best is the idiot fanboys who we like to make fun of. Psychicflash is correct. Halo is nothing but multiplayer fun. If you took away the multiplayer those games would have faded into obscurity like the rest of the FPS's that didn't have a good multiplayer. Even the fanboys know this, but they continue to claim a legit discussion is flame bait. Most people aren't even saying Halo is a bad game, they're just saying you fanboys blow it up as if it is the game sent from God when its clearly not.
Also, I hate babies. :p

OMG a live action RvB would be over 9000 times better than any halo story. I'm for it!

Pretty much. Halo: Combat Evolved was alright, everything after went downhill pretty fast though.

A friend of mine brought up a good point: RvB isn't the only good thing to come from Halo, the main theme is pretty awesome too.

(Again, lots of people will disagree that Halo itself wasn't good-- it's all opinion)

It seems I'm in a minority opinion here but I think Red vs Blue is totally overrated. I remember watching it years ago and thinking it was hilarious. Recently I tried to watch some more though and its just childish sillyness.

As for the best thing about Halo, that's a no brainer. It's the multiplayer, by such a long way it's silly.

*Halo fan enters the thread*

Well, you're entitled to your opinions, much as I am entitled to my opinion that the Halo experience can be very compelling. I'm talking about single player here, as I have always been a fan of the actual storyline first and foremost (as opposed to the whiny pre-teen and douchebag frat boy demographics that infest multiplayer). It may not be the deepest or most original narrative in the world, but it's much like the actual gameplay mechanics; Bungie took the best elements from other series to create a winning formula. The books also provide more insight into the origins of titular characters and provide extra context through chronicling the wider conflict that the games don't get into.

Red vs Blue was funny for the first three seasons or so. Then it started introducing needlessly dramatic elements into the story, which detracted from the humor. The series officially jumped the shark for me when the baby Elite was born (their PSAs are still hilarious though). It still had its funny moments, but I wasn't guffawing with laughter like I used to.

Considering I like Red vs Blue an don't like Halo, I'd say yes.

Not to insult Halo fans but I like my protagonists to have a bit more personality that "the world is in danger so I must be a badass and save it".
