I've been reading Redwall to my sister recently, and I find the characters and premise to be less and less believable as I read on. Well true, it's about a bunch of woodland critters beating the shit out of each other, singing, and otherwise eating, but it's mainly the characters. It just makes all the good guys pure, cute, and invincible while the baddies, despite being characterized to a certain extent, either put stormtroopers to shame with their stupidity and ineptitude at fighting in numbers, or just stupidly evil schemers ala Dr. Evil. The plot seems rather cut and paste in my opinon, but otherwise it's solid. What do you think?

True, they get the sword, they beat the baddie, and then they all go back home for pies and songs...

While it's repetitive I still think it's a good series for kids because it does have some depth to it. The more books they read in the series the more familiar it becomes because many books will reference characters from other books so it all fits together really nicely.
