Is there ANY show that has been going on as long as South Park (15 Years) that doesn't feel samey and monotonous?
Very few shows can last that long and not feel samey and monotonous it would be nice if they just moved on to something new. South Park has not been funny for over 10 years now it needs to hurry up and die.
*Spit take*

I dare you to watch Stanley's Cup (2006) and not laugh.

Or the one immediately after that "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson"

or Over Logging or their 2008 election episode or hell their Tiger Woods episode.
OK OK. Its not consistently funny. 1 or 2 funny episodes a year does not make it a funny show.
I love south park. It's my favourite cartoon. But hey, It isn't for everyone.

I love how the whole episode was pretty much making fun of the whole series. At least, that's what I got out of it.

Stan, the cynical asshole, pretty much represented the entire series.

There is no such thing as too much Randy.

Personally I thought Stanley's Cup was mostly awful. The other two you mentioned were great, though.

Why the heck is not dead yet?

Good grief why won't the shows just die out naturally instead of living on as a shade of what they once were.
Because that's how shit works. Why the hell is Final Fantasy not dead yet? Why the hell is The Simpsons not dead yet? Why the hell did Family Guy get to WISE FWOM IT'S GWAVE and come back even shittier than before and not die again yet?

Because somehow, enough people still like all of it to make it profitable, so the companies keep making more.

It'll be nice to see them go after what their show contributed to the language of kids under 17 everywhere.

"Wow, you called me a jew fag for the 11th time. How original."
The show isn't meant for kids. Just like GTA isn't meant for kids. But as usual, let's blame the show or the game instead of the shitty parents that didn't supervise their kids properly.

I was bored the other night so I sat down and watched an episode, it was hilarious. (The one about Butters having a multiple personality.) I don't see any reason why it should have died out by now. As far as I know they just sit there and talk shit about world events and celebrities and 'what if this happened' and then put it in an episode.

That's a pretty infinate plot creation strategy right there.

:) Because shades are cool.

Seriously though. I hope that they get a bit back to their old ways when the show comes back. They just seem to be trying to be to much about cussing and bodily functions rather than funny jokes. Though, maybe they planned it that way, or maybe thats what they are trying to do now? I guess will see in a while.

It would be better for everyone if some sort of equivalent to term limits were introduced to episodic television. Like: "You get 5 seasons, and then you really need to stop coasting and come up with a new concept."

Wow, I'm really amazed at how many people are saying the first five years of southpark were the best. I enjoyed them when they were on, totally, but compared to where the show has gone they're so rough and juvenile. Hard to watch now. Show got a lot more clever after the first five years. Relied less on the shock value of animated ten year olds swearing, etc... and let's not forget butters coming into the fold.

But to each his own.

For me, personally, the show hit the samey mark around year ten. It found a formula and hasn't really changed from that. It's still a fun show, just hasn't evolved since then.

doctor who?
I dunno. The last season John Nathan-Turner produced was pretty shaky. So shaky that -- some people say -- the series had to be canned for nearly 20 years before it could resume production.

It's overstayed it's welcome for me. It got stale two seasons ago.
Not as badly needing a cancelling as The Simpsons is, though.
Well as long as Fox likes The Simpsons, they will work their slave monkeys to make it...no matter how dead that horse is.

South Park has always been one of my favourite animations, and I agree that the first seasons were extremely juvenile until they started getting into the Token and the hate crime laws, that's where it became a good show into one of my favourites. The fact they weren't afraid to speak there minds about politics, the justice system, etc.

Even the episodes about Mohammed were amazing and kept me hooked. That irony that years ago they had him on screen with no backlash, part of the title screen, with no backlash, and now, hatred. I've always wanted Kyles speech to be uncensored, but even with it, it added to the humor.

I can understand there boredom though. Over a decade of the same characters, the same voices, the same scenery, the same design, it must get boring. If the show went after this series, I'd be sad to see it go, but I wouldn't blame either creators for it. I can't even imagine how it must be to work on the same show for that long.

Actually, I've _never_ really thought South Park was that funny. I just picked a number out of the air. That said, the political commentary/current event's stuff they've been doing recently is IMO even less funny that the already unfunny baseline.

The whole show jumped off the cliff of quality the second season 11 was aired.

Yes, I'd like this show to end now, before I become an anti-capitalist misanthrope.
So I'm not the only one who thought South Park started to mysteriously suck after season 10?

That season had so many fantastic episodes; Manbearpig, Mystery of the Urinal Deuce, Tsst, Make Love Not Warcraft and Go God, Go. But after that the show just took a fucking nosedive, and the only good episode since has been Awesome Boobage.

If they want to cancel it; by all means... Better to kill it now than to let it blood out even more.

Comedy Central, cancelling one of its hugest money making properties, yeah, Sure/sarcasm.

No. I think they did something like this before (not this exactly) but something where they ended on a cliff hanger and it seemed the show was over.

I just watched the episode where they talk about tween music sounding like shit, and at the very end of the episode they do a bit where they make it sound like that might have been the last episode of South Park. Did Trey Parker and Matt Stone say anything about this being the final season of South Park or did I miss something?
Oh ffs, your like the 6th person today to have whined about that episode...

No its not the end. Yes it is a two parter. Yes everything will be back to normal afterwards. I mean seriously, why does everyone suddenly think that every South Park episode is canon, i mean the main characters die/get arrested in most of them and yet always come back.

The level of emotional insecurity amongst South Park viewers is apprently surprisingly high.
I wasn't whining that the episode was bad...I was just wondering if they were gonna cancel.

Although after I thought about it a little it does seem like it will just be a two part episode.
