PLEASE hear me out here
for those few unfamiliar with the term....essentially its animation where you use a model or a puupet (generally plasticine but it can be anything really) and move it frame by frame, its very time consuming
now I KNOW the first thing everyone would say is Hell no! and anyway I dont need to go into detail about its apeal, ill get to that in a bit
anyway the biritsh studio Aardman animation are the makers of wallace and gromit, and chicken run Id say that are arguably the leaders in stop motion
aparently theres a new film of theirs coming out, a pirate film, and I saw the trailer on IMDB...what I noticed was a few people complaing about the frame rate and how they could have done it in CGI
now my first reaction was "Dumbasses!"....but it got me thinking
the apeal of stop-motion has always been its organic look and feel, somthing that CGI just couldnt quite replicate (look at the first shrek or toy story and compare it to wallace and grommit)
that is untill now....rango probably one of the main examples, everything feels so organic and real..like stop motion but with higher framerate
so what Im asking does stop motion have a place in the future? or will it fade away? if its hasnt already?...I persoanlly think it will always have a certain apeal...that you KNOW what your seeing is real and hand made and not on a computer..which is mabye a nice thing in our technological world
