Have you ever been given a really obscure compliment? Given one? Or just thought of one now that would be weird?

Well, tell us at the Escapist so we can all have a jolly good laugh and chat about it. :D

Being called a "pretty" man or a "handsome" woman would be confusing, it would just throw me off of what they were trying to say.

I do not understand the question.
Oh the title is just related to the topic in a roundabout way, it is what I believe people would think when they get given odd "compliments". :D

Handsome has lost its actual connotations. It's nice to call a woman handsome, but today it's generally meant for men.

A complement I get which can be obscured into an insult is:
"You're very good at packing," -at work. I take it how it is, but a more jaded mind can see "You've been here too long."

You have sexy elbows, thats a compliment. Also known as a subjective observation, often exaggerated, about another person.
Wow, I never noticed his elbows before... Max you should wear short sleeves and show those bad-boys off! XD

Anything with "different".

Oh gee you have a different sense of humor.

This! I've found that a lot of people say this to me, and I'm left wondering if it was actually a compliment or they were just left confused by my completely irrelevant and otherwise sarcastic humor.

Or: "Nice hat, miss." by a sales clerk. Last I checked, I was a dude.

I told a girl she had torpedoes big enough to sink the bismarck as a compliment (I thought it was nice to tell a girl she had a nice chest.). She knocked the glasses clear off my face. I don't really understand why she took it as an insult.

"You come up with the most hilarious shit ever" (shit meaning shit, rather than 'stuff')
"You're pretty funny... for a fruitcake".
Both have been said to me.

Umm... I sometimes take being called horrible names as compliments? Does that count?
