What about Halo 3 wasn't a gimmick?

PC games have had level, script and character mod tools for years. I guess they just wanted to give it a try on console. People seemed to like it, so it'll probably crop up elsewhere sooner than later.

I guess you could argue that LBP is just a much more advanced Forge turned into an entire game (yes, I'm aware of the gross understatement and various fallacies with the comparison). I enjoy it in Halo. I've spent hours dicking around or playing in levels my friends or I have rearranged. It adds depth, much like user content in LBP.

I don't care much for forge. I see it as much to simplified and offering few real choices in what you want to change. However this is the problem I have with all map editors, and it is the name itself which I dislike. I always feel the editors are just much watered down versions of the creators with all the real pride of creating a truely new environment is quickly removed when you just rearranged a map. And I personally hate forge for how lazyily it was thrown together. No 90 degree snaplock? And no freezing pieces? It simply makes mapping more stressful for me.

I like being able to remove and add things, but forge in Halo 3 is really glitchy. That and yeah it is a gimmick.

It's implemented well enough to not be a gimmick. And user generated content is getting more popular in games.

No, a gimick is something just put in for atention and not to m ake the game better.

Halo 3 isn't verey gimicky, it all fits just not in a new way.
