*games are a vertual reality.

*MMO's not only give you a reality you like but also give you something "real"

*that "real" is the interaction you get with people.

*strangely enough that "real" thing is what keeps you coming back.

*can you imagine those big MMO worlds with no people in them?

*not very fun huh? its the people good and bad that keep you coming back.

in the end all an MMO is, is a Glorified MSN messanger.

so no MMO's are not the height of gaming but at the same time they bring in the most money so most companies will eventually make only MMO's. and it will be the little niche companies that make normal games :3

Bring on MMO. I think some really awesome games could be made by sticking hundreds of people into the multiplayer content of existing franchises. COD could be incredible with massive levels and hundreds of people blowing the crap out of each other. Playing against real people makes games dynamic and fresh in themselves. Human error and occasional daftness make multiplayer fun and unpredictable. Play a single player version and it becomes a bit staid and predictable no matter how advanced the AI is.

i think actualy MMO's are sub-par games, just look at WoW, its graphic is average, the customasation is basicly just about different gear, and the story is made to seem epic, but its realy more like a fanfic version of a Dungeons & Dragons campain (like a badly written Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms ripoff)

so i feel that most MMO's are just basic, average games with online. but i must say some are fun to play, but i wouldnt call them good.

Developers try and fail to rip off WoW, hoping they can dent its invincible market monopoly.

So no, MMOs aren't the "highest form".

I wouldn't really call MMO's the pinnacle of gaming, if it was it'd be advertised alot more than more FPS/RTS/RPG games.
But I love MMO's, But when I quit and I go back... I feel ... Dirty, I need someone to hold me.

it has probably already been said but mmo's are the vangaurd for anti piracy on the pc, so publishers i believe will make more pressure on developers to create such games... and of course there is the outrageous profits to be gained
