Is the Xbox 360 on the decline?

I really have nothing against Microsoft or the Xbox 360, but it seems like everyone I know (close friends, and some people I just met at school) who plays games are trading in their 360s for PS3.

They seems to have different reasons: PS3 has better console exclusives, 360 has no exclusives and all the good games are on PS3 anyway, Blu-Ray, getting multiple RROD 360s (just to name a few)...

[edit]
these are just different reasons my friends have told me to say why they are jumping ship, not what I believe. I really haven't been that impressed with anything this generation except games on the Wii or handheld. And as for the exclusives, I think they were talking about upcoming exclusives, not currently existing exclusives...
[/edit]

So I was just wondering if this was just the people around me giving up on 360 or if the gaming community is feeling this way as well.

[edit]

I think I need to clear something up because a lot of people are thinking that what my friends have stated is what I believe.

I have a 360 and honestly have no intention of jumping to PS3. I mainly stick with multi-platform games. I don't play many exclusives so I really had no way of asking them why they believed what they did with exclusives.

It is just in the past few months more and more people I know have left their 360 for a PS3.

I saw a trend, created a theory and wanted to test it with more data.

i'm not sure if it is on the decline, but i've just noticed an increase in people i would normally classify as casual gamers getting them. maybe the price drop has worked, there seems to be lots of new ps3s in my circle of friends, and i'm one of only two gamers in the entire circle.

I was a diehard PS3 fanatic and I got one about a month ago;. Haven't touched the PS3 since, but that could just be because the 360 is "new".

Loving Cataan, Uno, Trials HD.....

Call me converted.

So, no- I don't think its on the decline, especially not after the Feb. NPD data that says they're selling more.

It's something I've noticed as well with myself. After I got my PS3, I barely touched my 360. It got a wee little bit of playtime with AC2, which I pre-ordered before I had a PS3, but other than that I was never inclined to buy games for it. The few exclusives that were there left me with a big taste of 'meeh' and after it Red Ringed (for the first time in 5 years) a few weeks ago I didn't bother with calling Microsoft.

A friend of mine as well was always a big 360 lover and looked at me with sadness when I talked about my PS3. But now he as well is using his 360 less and less, and is drawn a lot more to his PS3.

I suppose the PS3 is simply offering a lot more. It was gimped with a slow start, but it's picking up faster and faster. The 360 is simply lagging behind.

Set flame shields to full while you can.

OT:
- I think the 360 has some life in it, but I do think it's days are numbered. the tech is 5 years old now!
- yeah, RRoD... what other product could a company get away with such a failure rate. A car company would go bust with all those recalls. It just seems us gamers are a loyal bunch. hey theres a potential thread right there
EDIT:there is an exclusive that will keep me with the 360 until 2012. ME3, damn I wish it was coming to the PS3, if I RRoD between now n then, I'd consider buying a new 360 for one game!

On the decline? I dunno where ya got that from. I've had 6 of the bastards die on me and I still have one. Everyone I know has 360's except for maybe 2 people who have PS3s besides myself. They get laughed at because we can't play a bloody thing together with them.

360 has plenty of exclusives, I dunno WHERE ya got that info from. They're not MS brand but that argument hasn't and never will make any sense to me, they're still exclusives or exclusive to the console market.

Am I saying 360's better? God no, I don't think any system is better than another. Except maybe the Virtual boy and 5200, at least the 5200 had more than 17 games!

In my mind, it's quite the opposite. 360 has the better exclusives IMO, and the PS3 has far too few good games that aren't on 360 as well.

On top of that, where I am everyone I know is moving over to 360's.

okay, so it's just a random shift that happens with the gaming culture I guess. I just thought it was strange that all of the people I know have decided to leave their 360s for PS3s. It just seemed too unlikely for it to be random. The only people I know still holding onto their 360s are people who already have both 360 and PS3.

360 on the decline? No! PS3 has better exclusives? With all due respect not on my planet it doesn't, You can't get Mass Effect on the PS3 and FFXIII is available on both (I have FFXIII on PS3, btw, so not blindly defending the 360, not a fanboy of any console) Better exclusives would be a very subjective issue, imo dependant on the games you enjoy playing, as an RPG'er the PS3 offers less than the 360 and I have way more exclusives on 360 than PS3.

I've only seen one person replace their 360 with a ps3, and that was because it broke within the first month of them having it. However I do not know one person who has bought a wii and since hasn't replaced/additionally purchased another console. Though I never really understood the "PS3 VS Xbox" rivalry because they're pretty much the same fucking thing. I have both, and I would say as far as exclusives go, ps3 has better single player campaigns and stuff, and xbox has better multiplayer games which offer more replay value. Though that doesn't really matter much because most of the good games are multiplatform anyways. I don't know why you would see your friends scrap their 360s for ps3s because really the only noteworthy exclusive that was at least semi recently was uncharted 2. Not saying xbox had many either, but I don't see the point in buying a whole other console to play the same games.

A console that came out 4 years after one generation previous to that, with many flaws, crashes, and pioneered as the "NEW THING" by Microsoft... Yeah, it's going down in flames imo. Especially since the PS3's only picking up.

Note: I have neither because I'm a student, and I'm skint! :p

Never had a 360 but my friend has, he has recently been considering trading it in for a PS3, the reasons he gives are that:

He's done with Halo now; he wants to play something else (This is the main game I've seen him play on his X-box)
He wants to shift a lot of his gaming to PC (TF2, Mass Effect)
He just got it repaired again and it's still not working properly
He saw me playing FFXIII on the PS3 (I think this may be what decided it for him)
We frequently watch stuff using my PS3

Heh, everyone I know with a PS3 is getting rid of them, cos they only play their 360.

Myself included.

I think the 360 is doing fine. Most people jumping ship to PS3 were hoping to be able to do so from the beginning, the PS3 actually has some decent reasons to own it now, even if you don't have an HDTV. 360 still has the lock on the core gaming demographic, and even if the Playstation beats them in the end, they'll be around for another go. I'm not worried about my investment in my 360s

More RPGs? Really? Honestly? Serious? The RPGs offered on the Xbox are laughable at best, and the ones that are good are multi-platform. They didn't get a half ass decent one till they started handing SE blank checks. Gonna laugh so hard when FFXIII verus doesn't got to Xbox or comes in 7+ disc.

Most my friends who had Xboxs, traded their ins or sold all their Xbox stuff off when they got red ring. I am one of the last to have one and haven't touched it in weeks. It's got some decent exclusives, only reason I keep it but if I have to choose, i will take PS3 game any day. It all comes down to person preference.
