Is the Xbox 360 on the decline?

In all honesty I dont see the 360 delcining at all.
Whenever I'm in town I always check my local game stores to see if i can't pick up a decent deal for the 360 or PS3 (my sister has the PS3 so i dont touch it often) and almost all the time i see one or two people purchesing a 360 and such.

While i admit i've been wanting to get my own PS3 I am still not willing to shove £250 for a console. I'm sorry PS3 fanboys but I am not made of money and such plus what with the recent PSN going down for a day really made me think about it.

Sure the PS3 has MAG and that practically oozes awesomeness (256 players...c'mon!) but i'm shifting through the exclusives and i dont see many decent ones apart from Heavy Rain (and thats not even my type of game!)

Okay so the Xbox's tech is 5 or so years old but no-one seems to mention the fact that the PS3 is only a year behind that (being 4 years)

if anything the only reason I'd grab the PS3 is for Verses XIII, FFXIV and maybe God of war despite my uh...kind of dislike for hack and slashers?

Ask your friends why they switched and most of them would proabably mention God or war III or something. Alot of people i know want to get that game personally...I want MAG. now that XII had satisfied my nerd RPG side I wouldn't mind a decent FPS.

to sum up I think that it's not really on the decline, but due to up and coming PS3 releases it just seems like it is. Give it some time and I bet that come Dead rising 2 (the first was awesome) and some other games (especially reach...alot of fanboys want reach) the 360 will come back on top with the PS3 in "decline"

On the contrary ME2 isn't a good enough game to make the 360 better, also most games on the 360 can be bought on the computer whereas you can't get god of war, heavy rain, infamous, the resistance series, killzone 2 and the uncharted series on anything but the ps3

sorry i cant help but notice this. But the 360 is cheaper than buying a heavy duty gaming rig on the PC. I can see were you are coming from. but not everyone has an awesome gaming rig for those PC games. just saying

With all due respect not on my planet it doesn't, You can't get Mass Effect on the PS3 and FFXIII is available on both (I have FFXIII on PS3, btw, so not blindly defending the 360, not a fanboy of any console) Better exclusives would be a very subjective issue, imo dependant on the games you enjoy playing, as an RPG'er the PS3 offers less than the 360 and I have way more exclusives on 360 than PS3.

I SAID subjective (bold now so you can see it) and gave my opinion OK? This is not rocket science and a large number of people feel the same as me I'm not foundering alone here you know. I don't play God of War I don't play FPS's I stated I like RPG's. I have both consoles and don't give a flying..... for fanboyism I merely state my view mine not yours not anyone else's I speak only for me!

It would have been easier to say that this was a trend that was just with the people I came across. I KNOW that my friends do not represent the gaming community. I never claimed that they did. If it was just my friends I would have just thought it was just my friends no big deal, BUT it was more than just my circle of friends. It was coming from people I came across in class.

maybe I should specify: I am in college, not high school. "people in class" does not mean "people I grew up with." "people in class" means "a new group of random people I get to meet every 3 months." This group of people makes it MORE than just my circle of friend, but this is now a random sample (or a survey if you will) of the gaming community.

No I was asking a non-biased question. I have taken all of the info and decided that the trend was just from the people I came across because people were able to defend the 360. But that guy's post was saying that everyone has left the 360 for PS3 and need to return to the 360. I was just saying that quite a few people have been defending the 360 and that they haven't left for PS3.

I was only wondering since that statement did make seem like you were coming from one side of the argument rather than sitting in the middle wondering, iyswim? Maybe the phrase 'too bad', was a poor choice of words?

The xbox 360 is superior i believe, but my xbox is almost always in disrepair everyother week or so. I enjoy the ps3 but i dnt know if the console itself is more durable or better constructed. As far as online play i despise the ps3. Paying for xbox live sucks, but it keeps out the rif-raf, every 8 year old douche spoiled kid with Cod:MW2 for the ps3 can log on, join a game, and speak retarded nonsense as he flash bangs the entire team every time he spawns, but with the xbox i keep gradually getting more and more disapointed. The second 360 i ever owned had a problem that everytime a disc would read it would be cracked in the middle around the 2nd time i played it and my first was taken by the 3 red rings and i sent it in for the free quick fix thing and 2 months later its got it again. Hopefully microsofts next console will be put together a little more professionally.

I really have nothing against Microsoft or the Xbox 360, but it seems like everyone I know (close friends, and some people I just met at school) who plays games are trading in their 360s for PS3.

They seems to have different reasons: PS3 has better console exclusives, 360 has no exclusives and all the good games are on PS3 anyway, Blu-Ray, getting multiple RROD 360s (just to name a few)...

these are just different reasons my friends have told me to say why they are jumping ship, not what I believe. I really haven't been that impressed with anything this generation except games on the Wii or handheld. And as for the exclusives, I think they were talking about upcoming exclusives, not currently existing exclusives...

I think I need to clear something up because a lot of people are thinking that what my friends have stated is what I believe.

I have a 360 and honestly have no intention of jumping to PS3. I mainly stick with multi-platform games. I don't play many exclusives so I really had no way of asking them why they believed what they did with exclusives.

It is just in the past few months more and more people I know have left their 360 for a PS3.

I saw a trend, created a theory and wanted to test it with more data.

I own both, but I do find it pretty laughable that the Blu-Ray version of Halo Legends (god it is just awful)... came out like a month before the HD-DVD version. So I guess that sort of backs up your claims, but that being said, PS3 does appear to have far better exclusives on it than the xbox 360.
I've had my 360 for about 2 months now and while I have had no issues with rrod or hard drive failures, I'll admit I am paranoid about it dying on me and I treat it like a baby, never playing it for too long, leaving it on when I have to go out for extended periods, never moving it while a game disc is still in the console, etc.

I belive it is in decline and I also belive I can pin point the moment when it started.

It was the update that did away with the blade like menus, introduced those damm avatars and generaly made the 360 interface childish and lame.

This was the moment when I almost compleatly stoped buying games for it, let my live subcription run out and became a full time PC gamer.

I think he refers to that incedent when the PS3 calender reset to the year 2000 for a few days causing the DRM in PS3 games to prevent them from being played, it has also been known as Y2PS3
