Others may have said this but I prefer avast. Its free, efficient, and I've been virus free for over 2 years now with it.

Just a little note on this.

I use Kaspersky and found it to be very effective.

The main reason I started to use Kaspersky was a years free AV is bundled with the Republic of Gamers boards and it is cheap to renew if you search around on the net.

A great board and some nice extras but not the cheapest, well lets be honest they are expensive as motherboards go.

Thanks for this thread. After last night when one of our FC (guild) members in FFXIV got hacked and stole our guild bank's entire coffer (all our money for housing was in there...) I'm downloading Avast! to compliment AVG.

Hope it helps.
Whoah whoah whoah, only go with one or the other of those unless you want to pointlessly eat up your memory. If you want to supplement get Malwarebytes anti-malware, for the reasons I listed in my post above.
Not to mention installing 2 av's on one system is a big no no... They will pretty much always fight each other for control until one either wins, your system crawls to a stop or they kill your OS.

As for recommendation I started using Avast free 6-7 years ago and haven't looked back, but then if your using your computer correctly most anti viruses will work fine (just avoid norton and mcafee like the plague). Also I haven't used it in years but while Kaspersky is great I found it to be quite the resource hog, great software though. As others have said though if your worried about RAM usage you need more RAM, Avast uses 55mb on my system which is nothing on any system with over 4GB RAM (even less so if you have 16GB like me) it also has some nice features like stealth mode although I never see a need to use it.
