I hear the "Sanctity of Marriage" thing a lot, marriage isn't sacred anymore, isn't divorce against the sanctity of marriage also?

Second. What is the evidence that they can? Asking for evidence when having none is petty. Also this is a light debate on a video game forum, if you feel the compulsion to ask for evidence go to a place where the people aren't just passing the time.

Here in Finland, a few years ago a priest was fired because he refused to work with female priests. If gay marriage were approved by the law, priests refusing to perform them would no doubt be fired also. This in my opinion is forcing them.

But that's how it works in every single job. You either do what you're supposed to do or you can fuck off. That priest is not forced to work in that church and respect the churches rules. He's free to start his own church and interpret the bible as he pleases there. As it stands, in the church he worked he was forced to abide by the rules. It's the same in any other line of work. You do what you're supposed to do or you're free to start up your own company. This is not in any way forcing.

I wouldnt consider myself a homophobe, and if i had some gay freinds that decided to get married i would attend thier wedding. however, i do not believe gay marriage should be legalised based on religious principle. that being said, i would not vote for it, but i also would not boycott it or protest it.

marriage was first a religious institution, and while it is now a governmental institution i still consider it a religious event. as my religion (christian) has marriage between a man and a woman, not a man and a man or a woman and a woman, i tend to disagree that it should be legalized. however, i do feel that a gay couple should have every right a married couple has, tax incentive wise and such.

Technically marriage is a church thing. I don't see why they can't have a civil union though. It gives them the same rights as married couples, but the church is not involved.

As for the Civil Union/Marriage thing, partially it's because Marriages give you a significant legal and tax advantage over Civil Unions, and partially because it just doesn't sound as nice If you were to make the two level though, then I don't see why it couldn't be a civil union, or something else entirely.

Strange when I googled this last week all i got was hyper-religion How to un-gay your kids manuals. I applaud you for bringing this to me, i have been searching for reputable studies on this for a while.
