I know the market is up to it's eyes in shooters, but it seems some gamers look down on the genre because they thing they're just for "stupid" gamers. Since when was it wrong to like shooters? Some of the greatest games ever made are shooters. What do you think?

The main reason i believe is because it is alot easyer to just drop in and play a fps than say an mmo
Plus a stereotype of lots of people playing fps being as cleaver as most doesnt help

I think there's something wrong with finding something wrong with liking FPS's.

I personally think RPS's are better, but that's just because Gearbox made up the term and I'm currently of the belief that they can do no wrong. It's all opinions, though.

Popular FPS games like Call of Duty are up to their waists in idiots, and then you get the decent people making up the rest of the userbase. The "idiots" just stand out more.

I'm not one of those guys, but I understand the mentality.

A lot of shooters; whether intentionally or not, or more geared towards the beer-drinking frat boy market because of the violence and not quite deep plot-lines (note: I am talking in generalities here). A lot also can be considered "party games", like Halo and CoD, and the fact that whenever you play online with these games, there always happens to be an obscenity screaming prepubescent child who usually doesn't know what s/he is talking about, thus falling into the generality of a "stupid gamer".

One of my favorite games happens to be a shooter (Area 51, I'm looking at you and your duel shotgun wielding deliciousness), so brand me a "stupid" gamer if you so wish.

I'll be off playing Area 51 if you need me.
