Yeah an AM3 processor will be fine in an AM2+ socket. However i do wonder how much of a bottleneck your current CPU really is as its already an AM3... Perhaps the main bottle neck in your system is the graphics card.
That GT 220 is pretty bottom end so far as performance goes, you could probably triple or quadruple your performance in games by just spending a hundred bucks on a new card and forgetting about the processor. (just a guestimate)

Yeah, but for Battlefield 3 will need a way beefier GFX card than a 220.
Will also need a GFX update, a 460 should be enough at a reasonable price, 6850 if you want to go with ATi.

its not a great motherboard and it has a TDP limit of 95W but as it is AM2+ compatible it ought to be fine with an AM3 CPU. Especially as he has an AM3 CPU in there at the moment! A Phenom x4 would be pushing past that 95w limit but an X3 ought to be fine.number2301 said:
