I recently purchased the game Skate 3, and went to use a feature on the website called a graphic's creator (which allows gamers to create an image to put on skateboards and make team logos) and realized it wasn't working, then I find out no feature on the site is working, and that I can't use most of the online features, some of which are required to get achievements.

Despite all of this, EA has yet to comment on it, and still is selling DLC that is now useless. Keep in mind this game's advertising was mainly focusing on the online features now (such as creating teams and logos which, is now, useless). Now it is basically false advertisement.

If EA had to close down the site, shouldn't they have closed it down instead of just ignoring it? Also the community is constantly calling customer support and are being ignored. Many forums that brought up the topic were closed by EA.

My question is is it legal for EA to advertise a game's online features, have achievements that require these functions, sell DLC that utilizes these functions, and basically shut them down right away and never bring up a reason as to why?

Not knowing the full details of such a thing its hard to say if a case could be made or not, now considering i have no formal training in law im just gonna go with a guess that because EA owns the game and the rights to it and so forth they can pretty much do what they want, such as shutting down online functions etc, in my opinion the question should be more of a moral one "is it right for EA to do this" not is it legal because it very probably is, you have to consider companies like that have seperate law divisions that work out all the technicalities of any action for the express reason of preventing law suits against the company.

Not surprised by EA. Idk why you are as well. On topic, I'm not sure if it's legal or not. Probably just a really bad move and they didn't care about it. To me, it's just typical EA
