Ok so I left a half full glass of juice on my desk for about 2 days. Just now I notice that it is giving off a strong smell of fermentation, but it isn't moldy or anything.

So my question to you is; Is my juice now alcoholic? And more importantly how close to death will I come if I drink said juice/(wine?!)

Unoleian is right, this is hooch,

Also known as scrump, or crush in prisons, you put fruit juice in a container and leave it somewhere warm, it's best if it is a sealed container but it doesn't have to be.

And yes it quite often makes you very sick if it is fermented in an open container, and if it is fermented only partially.

Not a good idea to drink it mate, throw it down the drain and buy a nice wine.

Without actually researching it I'm going to guess fermentation takes longer than two days. Only one way to find out though; good luck.

I wouldn't even say it's hooch. Basically, you inadvertently made a base for distilled liquor. The thing about base is that there's only 1 type of alcohol that you want to drink for entertainment purposes, and that's ethanol. Base has lots of different kinds of nasty chemical compounds in it that will at best make you sick and at worst send you to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Throw some yeast and sugar in it, then filter it and heat it.
