Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to put forward what is quite possibly the worst advert ever made. For your consideration... <youtube=OkwN1ExPoeA>

Now I know what you're thinking, there have been plenty of worse adverts throughout time. A couple that come to mind that are airing right now include the 'Go Compare' and 'Compare the Market' adverts (you'll be fully aware of these if you're from the UK). So why this? Because the fellow with 'True Character' for lack of better words is an absolute WANKER. So whilst not the worst advert per se, this is the worst way to advertise a product, via an absolute c*nt...

This was a terrible ad at a fundamental level because not only did I *not* want to purchase the product, I have already forgotten which wine I'm supposed to buy should I choose to purchase some wine one day. The makers of this commercial didn't do a very good job with this one.

That is dull...but not terrible.

Worst advert I have seen has to be the one for the loans company with something like 2436% APR. That shit should be banned. They are now saying on the latest version that it is for "short term loans only" but you know that the crazy/daft/desperate have been falling for it.

Any gold buying advert.

Hmm. But then you raise the question of whether the "Go Compare" ads are better or worse than "We Buy Any Car" ad which makes me feel like stabbing someone when it comes on and then loiters in my head for 8 hours...

Wow, that guy in the ad is a proper dullard. I don't like him and I don't want to buy any wine.

No. It is not the worst.

Go compare adverts are here in the UK and they are horrible.
I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry.

There's currently a State Farm Insurance commercial being aired in the U.S. featuring some clean-cut white guy acting generally like a douche. At one point in the beginning of one of his commercials, a black guy looks at the camera with a "what the fuck is this idiot going on about" look on his face. It's not a bad commercial per se, but the actor and the scripting really get under my skin.

Also, there's an AT&T ad featuring some washed-up comedian/actor Luke Wilson. I can't even remember the guy's name. This guy also comes off like a douche.

Maybe we're entering the "babbling asshole" phase of advertisements in America. I fucking miss Billy Mayes. He would have reigned these fuckwads in.

Why is he a wanker? I saw nothing to suggest he was.

As AvsJoe said, it's crap for not promoting the product, it just shows a few dinner guests having a laugh then the wine as kind of an after thought.

I can only remember the name 'cos it always makes me think of Dawson's creek. (remember that god awful show?)

Weirdly enough you mention the worst advert in the rest of your post.

Go compare:
now play it another 100 times, to emulate one days viewing

It's a form of torture! Atleast you remember the company though.

Perfume adverts are bad aswell, loads of pretentious questions then the name of the perfume.

Just tell me what it smells like!

He's a giant arsehole! 'I have 495 online friends', 'Jacob's Creek; it's loved by the world's most important wine critic' 'who's that?' 'me'. If I were at that party I'd bludgeon him with the bottle. I just find it odd that in an advert where they're putting him off as a lovable rogue-ish fellow, he comes across as a complete tosser, unless this is what's considered 'charm' in Australia (no offense to any Aussies out there, I know I wouldn't want my country represented by the GoCompare guy... although...).

The GoCompare adverts are ridiculous, if only for the amount of times they get played throughout the day. I work as a writer, so I spend most of my time at home with the TV on in the background, and I can't count how many times that gets played.

Oh good god, I hated that little levitating prick! I used to work at an advertising company, and sometimes they'd almost literally take the approach of 'throw some shit at the wall and see what sticks'. This was a giant pile of shit which managed to grab on...
