I was on youtube yesterday, and started thinking about that sad scene in the Spongebob Squarepants Movie (Y'know what I'm walking about.) So, I watched it, and almost cried, then I started watching a bunch of sad movie scenes.

I cried, but I kind of though it was okay. Crying is kind of freeing, sort of. I sort of enjoy tearing up to a good movie scenes.

Is this wrong?

Its not wrong, but is the scene the one with Pat and Sponge in the gift shop?

Crying is fine. Don't worry about it. I certainly wouldn't make a habit out of it, but don't let other people tell you its wrong

Of course it is - and I cried at that point too, it's fine! Crying (in appropriate places) is a perfectly manly thing to be doing. Other good times include (but aren't limited to): the furnace scene and the ending of Toy Story 3, about 8 minutes into Up, and the ending of Marley and Me.

Not at all. If anyone tells you otherwise just ignore them.
I don't want to get put on a probation for a low content post, but I really can't say it any better than this guy did.

Once it was like 2 in the morning and I played "Today" on Rock Band and nearly ended up in tears. I geuss Im more emotional when I'm tired. And yes it is okay to cry manly tears once in a while

I started crying during the fire scene in Toy Story 3 and I don't care who knows it! Good thing I never had a man card to begin with.

Hey man, I cried during The Wrong Trousers :)

Nothing wrong with it.

Watching sad movies serves the same purpose as watching scary movies; to enjoy a state of being within the save confines of the screen.

I cried at the Sponge Bob film when I realised they weren't all going to be mercilessly slaughtered at the end.

And you can cry all you want in private.

There's nothing wrong with crying, but the Spongebob scene never got me crying. Ditto for the Toy Story movies. I cry during Up (at the beginning and at the final scene), the Lion King, and all throughout the movie "Fluke." That's about it as far as children's movies go... I think. (Also, I'm not counting "Grave of the Fireflies" as a children's movie).

I don't know why so many people cried at Toy Story 3. If they had got incinerated I'd have cried. Maybe if I didn't have to watch it in crappy 3D I might have connected with the film more.

However, I cried to Futurama more than once (I both love and hate that episode)("Jurassic Bark").
That's the one where he finds the fossil of his old dog right? If so I teared up at the end of that episode so bad. It was so sad.

But on topic, no. Crying isn't a bad thing. In fact, if you want a real tearjerker of a movie (I've said this in many threads and I'll say it again) watch Grave of the Fireflies.

At 29 seconds.

OT: Spongebob? Really? The "sad" bit you mentioned made me want to skip it, it was so cheesy. You knew he was going to get out of it because, well it's a kids movie.

I still love Spongebob though.

It's more the juxtaposition of the cheery, innocent Spongebob and his best friend, the incompetent but likeable starfish, against certain doom and sadness.
