Is videogaming an addiction?

I don't think it makes sense calling anything an addiction the way you're implying. I wouldn't even call smoking an addiction, it's just something you can become addicted to easily.

I want to know whether you guys think playing videogames is an addiction and if so why and would you say you were addicted yourself?

I think it can be, and yes, I was. Made me bail on my GCSEs. It's still hard to stop myself getting sidetracked from more important things.

It can be addiction forming, yes. Just like gambling can be addiction forming.

I also agree with some of the other posters it's more where you draw the line on what an addiction is, an example when I get into a good book I'll spend every free minute I can reading it, however I wouldn't claim to have an addiction to reading.
