Is your Xbox 360 Elite a Jasper?

Check the back of your nice new 120 GB Elite where the barcode is and you should see a power rating of 12.1A

probably not the world's clearest YouTube video, but all the facts are there (I was too lazy to make one myself).

So, back to the question, or subject of discussion for this thread: Is your Xbox 360 Elite a Jasper?

I know that there are a lot of Jasper Arcades out there, but the new Jasper motherboard is relatively rare in Elites. They do exist though. So, if you have bought one recently (possibly as a result of the price-drop), comment here and say what amps it has and its manufacturing date. It could be of help to others to give them an idea of when Microsoft has shifted all of its dodgy old inventory.

Thanks in advance.

A 'Jasper' is a 360 Elite console which runs cooler and has smaller internal parts which makes it run quieter, I think.

OT: No, mine isn't a Jasper. [small]damnit[/small]

Basically, early models of the 360 were called "Falcons" which resulted in many RRODs. Microsoft recently released "Jasper" models with better internal systems, reducing chances of overheating.

Currently, Jaspers are the best 360s to have.

Purchasing a 360? How to tell if it's a Jasper unit
« on: December 11, 2008, 12:38:54 AM »

Just thought I would pass this on. The long and the short of it is that you need to look at the barcode sticker in the hole on the box and in the lower left you'll see the power details. The Falcon is 14.2A while the Jasper is 12.1A

Actually, apparently they don't.
Indeed, thats the whole reason you want to get one of the newer jasper units, RRoD is essentially a non-existent problem with these

I've got a Jasper apparently but I've got RRoD twice.

Strange?

Oh and my Xbox is nearly 2 years old.

Again, strange?

The Jasper is a x360 with a "Falcon" motherboard using a 65 nanometer CPU. It's supposed to run cooler because of lower power consumption thereby reducing the RRoD fault from overheating. However, the RRoD is a general system fault which means overheating is just one factor to render the console useless. So, Jasper can't prevent RRoD from happening completely, it just lowers the risk of RRoDing from overheating.

As for the OP: I don't really know about mine but I assume it is, besides I don't really care. I know it's got a Falcon motherboard inside so chances are likely it is a Jasper or it could just be an ordinary Falcon. I can't really be arsed to check serial numbers at the moment though. All I know is that my elite hasn't red ringed.

my replacement is an old one but didn't red ring like the original.
I say it's just the chance that the xbox wants to die :p

and I thought this was refering to the little name thing on the original halo vs. spiltscreen play... mine was called 'Cupid' :p my friends xbox was called 'Drosey' or something along the sleepy lines...

And nice avatar by the way, Quadtrix ;P

Mine says 16.5A, what the hell do I have?

Edit: It RROD'd once, but it worked fine when I just turned it off, pulled out and re-inserted the HD. Oddly, the RROD came after a day of being turned off.

Edit2: The power unit says 203W, because I'm European possibly?

16.5A is the Zephyr, the original 360 configuration.
