G'day Gents and Ladies. This post has been updated at the 16th of August. The RP is now dead. Go bug someone else :)

[HEADING=1]... let vigilance be our sword.[/HEADING]
An unusual joint operation has been set into motion and is calling on a team of exceptional soldiers to undergo the most crucial mission in their careers. Splinter Cells and GHOSTS will be working together as they are sent behind the enemy line and into a conflict that might freeze the globe in another Cold War, or worse, set it ablaze in World War III. They will be unsung heroes if they succeed--and unclaimed bodies should they fail.

This is a remake of an existing RP, which can be found here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.203099-TomClancy-thread-Closed-Starting]. Our GM had to move on and I was forced given the opportunity to continue it. I will try to not disappoint the existing players and welcome each of you to resubmit your sheet, so that I can get a clear picture of who is still on-board. I will try to add those I know of, but should you see yourself missing, please PM me the character sheet. Should we fall short I will re-open recruitment and integrate them into the ongoing plot.

Downside to all of this: Existing HAWX, please accept my apologies, but the funding for your aircraft has been pulled. (You are, of course, welcome to resubmit as GHOST or support personell)

[HEADING=3]NPCs[/HEADING]

30 year old Handler/Field Runner of Third Echelon.

Hunt is a tall, slim woman with the constitution of a soldier. Her eyes are a dark gray and ever calculating their surroundings. Thin lips, a straight nose, and ash blonde hair cut just below her ears rounds up a generally pleasant physical appearance.

Background: Cheryl joined the Army when she was 17. Her mother was a career woman with the Army, and her father a carreer soldier with the Navy. Cheryl went to start her own path at the US Army Intelligence Center (USAICoE) and was aiming to be a part of the Military Intelligence Corps. Through contacts of her father, however, she found herself recruited by Third Echelon, who saw the value of her dedication and tidiness, her military background, her fluent understanding of 6 languages (she speaks 4 fluently, understands the rest and can get along well in all)--along with her technical aptitude (weapons, computer systems).
First she worked in the background, though she was quickly moved to work as a field runner for the Splinter Cells deployed in the field.

Operation Bird Cage is the most important and dangerous one she ever undertook.

One of the two Splinter Cells recruited into Operation Bird Cage and currently under Hunt's supervision.
Age: 28
Descrption: Blue eyes, kinda shaggy brown hair. 6 ft tall.
Personality: Quiet and tough

[HEADING=2]the Rules:[/HEADING]

This is not a Fantasy or SciFi RPG. I do not expect realism around every corner. The game is still meant to provide a fun environment and you have freedom to make it so, but remember that your characters are plain humans that are just as prone to make a mistake as they are to show heroism. And they are most certainly not invincible, faster than a bullet, or have the reaction time of a monkey on crack.
There is only one god. And that's me. Nah. Jus' kidding. God Moding, however, is frowned upon.
Your character can die. Being a small cast does not mean that your character has been granted invulnerability. Muck up too much, and he may just die.
Combat has rules too. The outcome of combat scenarios is decided by three things: The detail of the posts, the credibility of your character's actions and in some cases the roll of the dice in the private RP group.
The mission can fail. Try not to let it get to that point. Would be a shame, you know.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll get back to you with that. Right now I'm fleshing out the 3 roles I opened and will get to writing a brief plot summary for myself before I head to bed. That, and post in another RP.

Oh. I love Saturday.

I don't know about Anah'ya but I personally thought that they wouldn't have much place, Rob would've had to do a lot of writing to get stuff for all of us to do and I dont think it would have worked, still think of it this way, you now get to shoot people :)

And shooting people is fun.

We lost one more member today, so we really need to recruit.

Subject LARK

Bird Cage

Two months ago, asset Lark was inserted into a terrorist cell operating out of Yemen. The covert OP was based on intel suggesting the target group to be involved in a recent upswing of high tech arms deals conducted by an organization nicknaming itself "the Harrowing".

The objective was simple: Gather as much additional intel as possible, extract the asset, and follow up with further action based on the result.

But Lark failed to report in at sevenhundred hours last morning, and is suspected to have been compromised. While surveillance and additional personnel deployed close to the target group were unable to confirm this, we have been advised where the asset might be held.

A quick and dirty extraction will not be possible. Any trace of direct involvement is too hot to risk. If viable, Lark is to be pulled. If not, steps must be taken to retain anonymity of the covert operative.

Attached are the dossiers of the team tasked with operation Bird Cage.

This is a Black OP. Funds will be wired to the account provided in the attachments. You will be handling this on your own.

Good luck.

Cheryl raised her eyes from the PDA. She sat silently, staring at the blank, white wall in front of her. Five minutes before she had received the message, Cheryl Hunt had been methodically removing picture frames from the walls of the apartment. It had seemed to be an important task; something she could not put off for another minute more or the world might end.

Now it seemed anything but.

She turned, looked at the bags that were already packed, and glanced about the spartan room with its lack of furniture. What a wonderful timing.

The men will arrive at a bus station in the middle of Glen Burnie, MD. Grayhounds and normal buses will sit silently in their dark lots, and there will be no one but them present until every man called for the pick up has arrived. Flesh out the area in your posts, and reacquaint each other briefly if you want.

I am sorry that I am restarting this from scratch, but there was no other way to salvage the plot with so many people having dropped out.

The man stood a block away from the bus station, inside a payphone, the receiver held against his ear with his shoulder, his lips moving in some unheard conversation. It seemed perfectly natural, just your average man, with an average plain black tea-shirt, matching jacket, cargo pants and finger-less gloves, with an average appearance (though more muscular than average build), standing in an average payphone.

But (as these things usually are) things were not as they first appeared, the man simply mimed the words into the receiver, an annoying dialling tone ringing softly in his ear, his eyes were hidden behind tinted shades but they moved ceaselessly, scanning rooftops, approaches and most importantly, the bus-station. He watched and waited for a few minutes until, when he was satisfied he set down the receiver and exited the phone booth into the downpour outside.

Proceeding quickly over the road he sat underneath the bus shelter, again appearing as just your average man waiting for a bus. In truth he was awaiting his contact, or at least he assumed, the details had been vague but whoever 3E had sent to pick him up would most likely arrive shortly, it was just a matter of time.

Damn it, I just got back from Mexico and the suits are sending me out to some other mission. Isn't there supposed to be three months in between tours of duty? Fuck it, it's just a simple evac mission, nothing new. Lutner thought as he made his way to the bus depot he was told to go to for briefing, which struck him as odd, as most governments brief their soldiers in bases, not in the middle of the night at a bus depot.

"Hey, it's Rae. I can't answer you right now, so sing your tune at the beep. I love you, Aaron." Black always smiled when he heard his wife's voicemail, despite the reasons she couldn't answer the phone.

"It's me, sweetheart," he began, riding from the airport at zero dark thirty in a taxi. "I'm glad we got to get dinner before I left, and sorry I didn't tell you I had to leave this early, but when the boss calls, I gotta answer. You know how it is.

"Anyways, this job's gonna have me out for a while, and it's gonna be hot down there, but I'll call you when I can. I love you, too, babe." Hanging up his phone, he slipped the driver a twenty and got out, slinging his pack over his left shoulder. The rain poured down on his black patrol cap as he slowly stepped towards the bus shelter, where another man waited on the bench inside. Black kept his left hand on his backpack's strap, his right down at his side, roll of quarters inside the loose fist.

There was always something to have that would be an advantage in a fight.

Black's stonewash gray t-shirt looked black from the rain, but his jeans kept their deep blue, despite being wet. The tan combat boots appeared to be fairly normal shoes under his pant legs, but there was no concealing the familiar necklace that held his dogtags around his neck.

Unable to think of any kind of codeword that had been in his orders, Black sat on the opposite side of the bench from the man already there, checking his watch to see how much longer until 0100.

A black VW transporter swung towards the bus station. It's headlights cut the night effectivly and the driver seemed to try and make a point by swinging the van around the shelter so the men would take the brunt of the glare.
When the vehicle rolled to a stop the light remained pointed at the four figures, and the engine rumbled on dutifully. Ten second later, the headlights finally dimmed. Now the men could see the slender shouldered driver inside. A woman then. She pushed open the drivers door, hopped out, and skirted around the hood of the van.

She donned a long overcoat and a dirty gray baseball cap perched on her head. Water was already pouring from the sunshield of the cap. The rain had picked up considerably. The woman stopped in front of the men, lifted her right hand, and pulled the cuffs of her coat up.

"We're all on time then," she noted, before giving each of them another througout once-over.

"My name is Cheryl Hunt. I'll be responsible for your collective asses during this OP, but that doesn't mean I fancy catching a cold while briefing you out here in the rain. Inside--"she jerked her thumb over her shoulder at the general direction of the van"--you'll find com units, tagged, encrypted and dying to be strapped on. Some of you might be familiar with the tech, some might not, either way I'm sure you boys will appreciate the new toy."

She turned briefly, snatched the sliding door handle and dragged it open. All the while she kept talking, not eager to give them time to argue.

"Pick your named folder from the clipboard too. There's a bit of light reading in there, plus your shiny new passport and a bundle of cash curtesy to Uncle Sam."

Hunt paused and, as if on cue, sneezed.

"Fuck. Pile in already."

Their driver left the sliding door open and headed to the other side of the van. There she climbed into her seat, slammed her door, and waited for them to follow suit.

Surveillance shots of a large compound of buildings make up most of the folder. The focus is on one circular strucutre: A modern office building, it's sides lined with gleaming windows. Flags of multiple nations are planted at the front. It's the newest IHM (Independant Humane Movement) building located in Saudi Arabia--and according to notes attached to the photographs this is where they are headed to extract an asset by callsign Lark. No more information is given.

Each of the men is also given a passport with a fake name. Feel free to pick the name yourselves. Don't worry, you will still be referred to as the actual character name.

Socialze for a round. More soon.
