I've recently gotten a new widescreen monitor for my computer; my aunt had received this monitor with her own new computer but due to how she set things up, she couldn't fit said monitor and traded it for my more basic one.
However, I've noticed a problem with several of my computer games ever since. It seems like most games, particularly older titles like "Sid Meier's Pirates" or "Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim", want to compensate for their lack of widescreen support by making the entire display bigger, rather than stretching everything out and making everything "fat".
This wouldn't bother me so much if said games didn't end up too "high"; they keep having the top of the screen cut off and a big black bar at the bottom of the screen. Some games are almost unplayable as a result, with critical display information, such as part of the minimap in the aforementioned "Majesty" game, cannot be seen.
Does anybody know how this problem can be fixed?
