It doesn't work!

After reading a few things in the past few months.
Sim City, The new Xbox, etc.

I keep hearing this.
"It work without a connection."
Or.
"The features require a connection!"
Things like this.


First one. "It won't run without a connection."
What load of bullshit is this? Computers can run without connections, ps1, xbox, xbox 360, game cube, etc.

What the hell are you guys doing these machines that *require* a connection? Things will work just fine without it.

To the second statement.
Who the hell cares?
I certainly don't. I don't care about social network features, I don't care about watching netflix on my console. All I care about is playing games on it. Why are companies like sony/microsoft treating their new consoles as computers? They should be just design to play games, and that's it. That's what the majority of people really care about it when it comes to console.

So, there's suppose to be a thingy in the PS4 that hooks into...Facebook? Yeah, funny that. I'm not on there, so I guess that holds no relevance to me at all.

When the PS4 reveal showed its social networking it didn't anger or upset me, but damn was it cringe worthy. When they showed that Dark Souls/Daemon Souls like game and the guy stopped the game and wrote "Hey lollerdude93234, can you help me out?" (or whatever) it created a damn awkward moment. It practically contorted my face within itself.

I don't understand the social feature either, all i need is a decent way to communicate with other gamers and i'm sorted, maybe a little personal space (like with Steam profiles). i don't mind if its optional though.

The last thing i want to do is link my real life and gaming personas together, better they stay separate entities.

I remember PS3 was trying some Facebook connecting features so i tried them out, whatever i purchased would show up in my Facebook live stream and i didn't enjoy it (gaming is still pretty taboo round here if its not FIFA or COD, wrap that one round you head) besides, the last thing i want it "Pandalisk downloaded the Sabotage 18+ upgrade (explicit) version" in my Facebook live feed
