I found the show from a thread on this forum, and since I generally find the tastes of this community to be in line with mine I figured I'd give it a shot. I love it because it's so much better than all the other schlock they call cartoons these days, and its sweetness is a nice balance for all the grimdark I usually watch/read/play.

But, really, I don't think another pony thread is the best response to the Rapture. If you want to talk about ponies we have a usergroup full of people who would be happy to do so.

Yeah sorry I realize that, but every time I post in that group I get ignored, so... yeah.

Well that's odd, because it isn't a joke.

I get why you ended up here, being it wasn't immediately apparent that it was a pony thread, but what I don't get is after you get into back-and-forths with at least twelve different "bronies" why you continue to ignore that it might legitimately be something that people like.
You know what I like?

A great many things. Too many to list infact.

Do you know what I don't do? Make thousands upon thousands of threads about them and make even more obnoxious memes out of pictures I prtscn'd from my illegally downloaded copies of them.

And neither does any other sane individual who just likes a show.

If you people genuinely just liked MPL we'd have heard the end of it by now.

People who like shows don't manically shove that fact in everybody else's faces every 20 minutes.

Irony hounds do.
Most of the threads aren't made by fans. This one is, and one earlier today was, but 90% of the ones on this forum are made by non-fans.

Also, illegally downloaded? Hasbro is only interested in toy sales at the moment; I'm pretty sure they stream it for free off their site. Us "pirating" MLP is currently a good thing for Hasbro.

It's not our fault the show lends itself so easily to memic pictures. If you're wondering about the "memic" quality of the show... here are some good examples:

these facial expressions all occur in the show. And I've only seen images from the show posted in pony threads, so you really only have yourself to blame if you see them.

You are wrong if that we are the ones making the threads. While the OP usually ends up a brony, they start out only asking the questions which represents a solid 85% of all pony threads. We only show up because we want to answer the questions asked and combat people like you who shower hate everywhere.

Also, that's not irony.

Well, chat does move pretty quickly in there. You'd probably have more luck joining in whatever the current topic of conversation is than trying to start a new one.

1 Saw it as trending on the Know Your Memes sight when I was looking something up... I think it was "is a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything"

Anyway, I thought it was simply a dumb fad until I saw Lauren Faust's name. I loved powerpuff girls as a kid and loved Foster's during its run, so I gave it the beenefit of the doubt.

2 Great writing, endearing characters with consistent characterization, hilarious gags entertaining to both the kid in me and the teen that I am, excellent animation and a robust world filled with things I was surprised to find in a MLP / young girl's show. Manticors, Cockatrice, dragons, giant space bears, hydras, ancient dark evils sealed in the moon, plagues of locust, ftw.

I've lost count of how many non pony threads I've been on where the obnoxious memes are flouted around or you have somebody make a reference to the show for no apparent reason.
I haven't seen any. I'd love to see some examples, though. (I'm not saying you're wrong) I don't leave the off topic much, so keep that in mind.

I agree with this completely.

1. I found it in a Man thread and realized that only true men can do whatever the heck they want and ignore those who judge them for it.
2. I like it just because it's something different than what I normally encounter on a daily basis (With all those little-kid morals that allow me to reminisce) Also, having grown up watching Lauren Faust's shows, I liked the same random humor style that the shows had, with their unique characters and funny little quips.

How, exactly, does what you just described about the pony fandom fit this definition at all?

Your upset behavior also seems rather illogical and ridiculous to me. How does the existence of the bronies affect you in any way? Can't you just exit this thread and be on your merry way? Does the idea of people enjoying themselves upset you? Is it the use of jokes from the show? Because jokes from LOTS of different shows, movies, and games are used in EVERY thread on this site every day. Considering you don't care if people like the show, but take issue with them sharing that they do, your concerns seem rather petty to me.

1. Saw this video on Halolz:
2. Fluttershy. And everything else. That's why I love it, because of everything.
The characters, the humour, the musical numbers, Fluttershy yelling at a dragon, Pinkie Pie going insane, Applejack's accent, Twilight getting an anvil to the head, and a piano, Fluttershy going insane, Appejack making baked bads, Apple Bloom just being plain adorable, Fluttershy staring down a cockatrice while being turned into stone, Rarity whining, Pinkie Pie starting a war, Derpy in the background, Fluttershy singing a lullaby, Sweetie Belle making the lullaby even better. The list is endless.

If it was episode 1 you watched, I suggest trying some of the later once. The pilot episodes' (1 and 2) format of "big bad villain" was dropped for condensed independent stories within episodes. The later ones are also funnier.

If you still don't like it after that, eh, different strokes and what not.

1. Everyone's avatar started changing to these ponies, and it piqued my interest.
2. To be honest I wasn't expecting much so I watched the first episode, it turned out to be a surprisingly fun show.

1: This website.
2: I watched part one of Friendship is Magic, but that's it. It's not that I've got anything against it- it's an alright cartoon (decent animation/voicework/some good jokes, etc.)- its just I don't see why it's so special. After all, it is just a giant pile of cliche with ponies in it, and as far as I'm concerned, this a formula that earns it a 'meh' rating from me.
Having said that, it's great that so many people like it. Have fun with it all you Bronies (or whatever you're called)!

Odd, because I'm rather active on these forums and I've not seen a single one that was posted "for no apparent reason". I'm sorry for this, but I need proof of that if I'm to believe it.

People are drawing attention to the show when they know a lot of people are sick of hearing about it. That's strikes me as trolling.
It is no more troll-tastic than the million apocalypse May 21st threads we've had. That's how forums work. People want to discuss something it gets discussed. A lot of people want to discuss something it will be discussed a lot. I'm with you in that I'm getting pretty tired of the "What's with this show" threads, but this one is different since it actually has merit that wasn't discussed in twelve threads the past week and a half.

Tell me how that is the kind of behaviour exhibited by anything other than an attention seeker?
That's because the OP expressed interest in not just how fellow bronies discovered this show on, but also those who are disinterested in it or hate it. He wanted to know why everybody felt about, not just us.

What you are suggesting here is that it is congruous that people who like a show won't talk about it ever. That is not Ironic, it doesn't even makes sense.

Well you got me there. I just thought it would be funny what with all the rapture threads going around, to combat them with a thread that's even more talked about then the rapture. I didn't think anyone would be so offended by it.

ITT: Tons and tons of people trolling. and people getting trolled. and mods doing nothing about it.

BTW, if you do not understand that all this stuff came from a certain website which shall not be named, and is just a sophisticated form of trolling, let me officially welcome you to last month.

They happen. I don't really care whether you believe me.

2) They can all go to hell aswell.

3) Doesn't stop it from being tolltacular.

Is it okay if I go make a thread and pit religions against each other to see why everyone thinks their belief has more merit than another's?

I mean, it's a genuine question that I want answered. But I'm not going to do it because I don't want to start up a needless flamewar.

regardless of whether or not it's a good show, you wouldn't expect it to be by either hearing about it or just glancing at it. And that is what is captivating so many people.

It's the juxtaposition. People are latching onto it because it shouldn't be good. That's why it's garnered so much adoration. Because people get to openly express that they like a show targeted towards little girls. It increases the reactions they get.

Pretty simple really.
If you aren't willing to back your statements up with evidence, this conversation's over and you really need to simmer down.

Obviously THAT'S ironic, that a my little pony show is actually good. But you were suggesting that the expression of like for the show was out of irony instead of a genuine love for the show, which it isn't.

It's not some cultural revolution or a freaking religion.
See, the funny thing is, no one except you seems to think it is.
