OT: QTEs are fine if they're not overdone like in ResEvil6.
Personally I would like less traditional tutorials in games, when creativity has clearly influenced the start of a game it makes a good impression on me. Borderlands 1 for example - you get your ECHO device which boots up progressively, labeling each HUD element briefly as it appears. Then you get your gun and it's time to go. Simple as that; no running around ducking under random pipes or shooting bottles. The game respects your intelligence by assuming you can decipher the HUD instead of spamming in-depth text messages. Far Cry 2 was pretty terrible for pop-ups: RT TO SHOOT. Really Ubi? I thought maybe if I wiggled my fingers at the screen my gun would fire X_X I guess part of it is not wanting the devs to treat me like I've never played a game before.
