DoTa, HON, LoL, AV heroes all of them great games with unique characters but when people ask what gnre or kind of game they are my mind goes blank so lets get some names for these worthy games

hRM I am assuming thats Defense of the ancients, Heroes of Newerth, Leauge of Legends, ect.
Technically... they are RTS games.
Beyond that they are considered to be a sub genre of RTS due to their RPG esque nature and in cases that is dubbed RTS/RPG.
Also with direct popularity and connection its also referred to as the DOTA sub genre.
There is also mention of "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena" or MOBA. (edit: Personally I would switch the A and Baround because at least in my head the sound of MOAB ((Moe- Abs minus the s)) rolls infinitely better than MOBA (( Moe - Bah)) Just a personal opinion.)
However I am not really seeing much point in specifying more than RTS as the subgenre has yet to develop and flesh out enough to constitute a name yet. as it does, the name or initalisim will come more naturally.

I've been using DotA as a genre term for a while now and everybody always seems to know what I mean. Basically, this is a non-issue to the best of my knowledge.
I guess MOBA could also work, but just calling LoL a DotA game works fine.
