[HEADING=1]It?s Only a Test[/HEADING]
2037, the year when things on Earth had become unbearable to the point of no tolerance for anything going on. Every bit of information was monitored, peoples? jobs were chosen for them, and laws had become strict to the point of ?breaking any part of the system? would result in a lethal injection. The governments? ways had become completely unpredictable, and seemingly cruel in many ways. Wars seemed random, and people had no idea why they were even going on. The government seemed to change into a censorship based dystopia, where one person was respected as a god and all others were controlled. People sought after a place free from these problems. A place yet untouched by the evil and corruption that others have brought to it.

Started in 2029, a Korean space exploration company, and a powerful building company had begun a program to test whether the human mind can handle an expedition to mars. The building company didn?t need much convincing in order to help the space exploration program because it wanted to have its buildings the first on mars, and to make money off of the potential population there once the colonization started. It has built a fleet spacecraft for the crew and test subjects to live in. Even though it cost a ton, the Korean government had paid for some of it because of a certain agreement and the rest was paid by investors. The fleet was called the fox wing?because it sounded cool.
Over the years however, things had taken a turn for the worse. The censorship type government had first started to show itself. This made many people get worried and more eager to join the test. After two years the crew was finally assembled, and the test was going to start in no time. People had considered the trip an escape from the nightmare that the government has become.

The crew is made up of the ?Director,? the paramedics, engineers, test subjects, and psychologists. This team is to made to be sure that almost all known potential problems will be taken care of, and won?t stop the test, or make it dangerous. Since the first trip will be a long one, many precautions had to be taken. One of them is that there are five different ships so one driver?s mistake won?t harm everyone. There are also 20 test subjects in each of the five ships so its not claustrophobic, but also not empty.

It was the day of the launch, and 30 test subjects were accepted. The Fox Wing Fleet was all set up for the launch, ready to escape the cruelty of Earth?s people, and to explore the possibility of start a new civilization, far away from the troubles they are leaving behind.

Here is a letter one of the doctors had sent the director before the launch:
March 12, 2037,
This is Dr Song. I'm in charge of monitoring the interplanetary flight experiment. Since everything is prepared and we've been cleared to leave by the debris monitoring team we'll be leaving for Mars next Tuesday.
Some members of the crew have voiced concerns that the extended amounts of time within a contained environment may cause friction between members of this experiment, I'd like to remind you all that everyone here has been psychologically screened and trained to cope with any possible situation that may arise.
It is also important to remind you all that the Director has had years of experience and is here to help you, not himself. His name is to remain secret due to various security concerns and external threats.
The director had become very anxious after the letter. Even though he wouldn?t be with more than one ship, he knew that they can easily board each other. The director had been trained in order to keep things going, and to keep people calm. No one really knows his name, but people on the ship refer to him as ?Director? because he only seems to talk about his work, and schedule, so he is only a Director and nothing else. Director was a name that actually stuck and no matter how hard he tried, people still continued to call him that. No time to complain now though, time to start the trip.
I have been working on the story and atmosphere of this for quite a while. I don't really like the OP so far, but I cant figure out how to give a better idea of the story without spoiling too much. Its about a test, and what happens during a few issues that the crew encounters. It shouldn't be like super crazy where people begin eating each other, but it should still be worrying. I've developed a few NPC's and a few of my friends helped me with this idea. Ben and Fred helped me write up this OP so I hope you guys will enjoy.

Name: Gordon Jameson
Age:45
Gender: Male
Appearance: If you had to pick one word to describe Jameson, it would be "tired". After 45 years as a subject to all of the ills of the world, he just seemed like it was weighing heavily on him. His hair was grey and messy, he was thin to the point of being skeletal, though he didn't seem to notice, his teeth were yellowed, his eyes bloodshot and his nose crooked. His wrinkled face was passive at most times, rarely breaking into a smile, but quick to snap at an action he deemed foolish.
Bio: Jameson was born into a middle class family in the late 20th century. His mother, Lucille Jameson, was disappeared two years after his birth for daring to speak against the child rearing policies of the British government. His father was an Orwell fan, and he could see where this was going. He began a pirate radio broadcast telling the people to rise up against the oppressive government, but was captured and executed in front of the young child who was placed in a state-care orphanage.
There he was singled out as a troublemaker and "lazy" in his first few weeks after threatening the Orphanage Mistress. He grew up in a near constant state of detention, but made up for this with good grades, good enough to get him accepted into college where he earned degrees in Sociology, Psychology and Arts. At the graduation ceremony, he was arrested for arson of Oxford State-Care Orphanage. He was found guilty, but cleared of all charges after three years when it was discovered that there had been a gas leak and the Mistress had attempted to get a larger recompense by pinning it on her least-favourite student. He managed to get a steady job as a graphics designer for a software company and acted as a respectable citizen, but never made any secret of his wish for escape and a fresh start.
Reason for Taking Part in This Test:In his own words "To get me off this damn rock and somewhere that might, just possibly, be the smallest bit better." He proceeded to beg the admitions officers, showing his credentials many times over and stating that "I can't take another minute in this nightmare!"
Upon being accepted, he proceeded to cheer loudly, dance, and exclaim that the government was "doubleplusungood" and that they could, if they had objection to that statement, "¨?¨?¨?¨? me all the way back to ¨?¨?¨?¨?ing yesteryear!"

Name: Efe Obi ("Ef-ay Oh-bee")
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Appearance: Tall and attractive. Dark skinned with brown eyes and waist length black hair in braids. Tends to wear an absent minded smirk. Always talks with an outside voice.
Bio: The only child of a wealthy Nigerian family, Efe was spoiled with a tip-top education at one of the finest schools money could buy. Her appearance, good breeding and childhood academic achievements managed to earn her some attention during a school visit/publicity stunt by a prominent party leader. As such, she briefly became the darling of a propaganda paper, but was forgotten a couple of months after. Despite a total lack of celebrity status, her doting parents firmly believed she would go onto great things.
A decade after the press lost interest with her, Efe graduated from a prestigious university and found a basic administrative job in a small company. She was satisfied with the work, as well as being away from her meddling family. Efe had no interest in the Fox Wing experiments, right up until the day she discovered her mother had already submitted an application for her...

Reason for Taking Part in This Test:
Though her mother's cover letter managed to get her enrolled, Efe categorically does not want to be part of the tests. Rather than argue it any further with her family though, she has decided acquiesce. When asked for her reason in taking part ,she'll always give the same answer: "to make my family proud".TAKEN FROM APPLICATION COVER LETTER: "...As a model citizen (as described by the popular publication, The Statesman), I am an exceptional and prestigious test candidate. I would love to represent both the party and my country, assisting the pioneering minds and their planned expeditions."
Name: Mary Shelley
Designation: Test Subject #1 (TS-01)
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: Mary suffers from Albinism. As such, she has white hair and red eyes, as well as pale white skin. She wears special contacts (blue) to protect her eyes and a special "suntan" lotion to protect her skin. She prefers to wear dark colors, fully enjoying the contrast in colors, that cover most of her body (again, to protect her from the light). Her hair is long, ending at her mid-back. She always has a pair of sunglasses (just in case) on top of her head.
Bio: Mary was born with Albinism - a rare medical condition where the body lacks pigmentation needed to protect itself from the sun. Her family was ton poor to be able to pay for her medical condition, so they put her up for adoption. She spent her first 16 years in foster care, but was never adopted. She went to school (where she earned fairly good grades, and worked part time to save some money - realizing that if she wasn't adopted, she would need it to graduate from high school. When she turned 16, the state could no longer care for her so she was thrown from the system. She spent the next year scraping by on minimum wage, part time jobs, relying on what medical support she could get from the state, and working to finish her schooling as quickly as possible, before her funds ran dry. At the end of the year, her accounts were drained and she became convinced she would be unable to finish high school. Then, as though a godsend, the Experiment was announced. When the Experiment was announced, that it would pay test subjects for being involved in a test flight to Mars, she jumped at the chance - she was the first test subject through the door, no questions asked. She finished her education a year later, then arrived at the facility for the test.
Personality: Mary is fairly jaded by the world, and responds sarcastically by instinct. However, with her acceptance into the project, she has been absolutely giddy with excitement; not a thing can bring her down.
Reason for Taking Part in This Test: Her reasons are two-fold. The first is the money. No matter how small a sum they say it is, to her it's more money then she has ever seen. Her second is to go to Mars. Mars, being further from the sun, is actually a healthier place for her to live. She has no regrets about leaving and no one she will miss.
