Have you ever stopped to look at all the incredible flukes that have formed your life? I always get caught in a perspective of how "that wouldn't happen if that didn't happen if yada yada yada". I always wonder, is it fate, is it the most well organized universal plan for our lives set in motion by the force of cosmos, or is it just a stupid fluke? I get constantly caught in fear of what might have been different. What might have changed my life so much by the fluke of a second.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you let it get to you?

Hitchhikier's Guide To The Galaxy. Cookie please.

As for the larger issue, the idea of a "fluke" dictating your life is meaningless. Life worked out the way that it did, so there's no point thinking about what if it worked out differently, because it didn't. Just chalk it up to your own personal awesomeness and let things be as they are.

I view my life as a stumbling dance through situations that should not have arisen in the first place.

Biggest one is my choice of Uni, it was decided on a complete whim the day before upper sixth started.

Pff, everyone knows this one. HHGTTG.

And no, not really. I've had no close calls or near-misses. Everything's fine. I'm just safe in the knowledge that the flukes surrounding my birth were expensive to the government. All I need to do is emigrate before I've payed 750,000 pounds in tax.

My fresher year enrollment at Uni, had to queue for hours, the people who were standing around me in that queue are now my best friends and we often ask the question "What if some of us had got there earlier or later?" but I never wanna know the answer.

Your going to have to give out a lot of cookies to a lot of hitchikers.
And there is clearly a vast Improbability field spread throughout the universe that causes every occurence.

Nothing is writting down and I find the idea of "fate" and "luck" laughable.
Aren't you just renaming luck right there?

Well, I only had one, so it's first one that gets the cookie. And that price went to BonsaiK.

Yes yes yes *gives cookie to Arkhangelsk for nice reference play* ... *Every escapist around starts to look at me with their puppy eyes* ... *Starts to give cookies to everyone and curses Arkhangelsk for the easy reference play*

I have thought this too. Well we are lucky animals that we can understand concepts like present, future and history.

Actually it is funny that movie The Matrix show me idea behind my new thoughts on life.
Morpheus: I imagine that right now, you're feeling a bit like Alice. Hmm? Tumbling down the rabbit hole?
Neo: You could say that.
Morpheus: I see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that's not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo?
Neo: No.
Morpheus: Why not?
Neo: Because I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life.
So what I believe is that there is alot of nonhuman effects that change your way in certain probability (really big like planet, day, night and all that stuff). Also what comes to my personal life there are my choices and the choices of other people.

I could say that those things that are not in my hand are fate because they play so big causal part in my life, but the choices that I make are the bigger ones. My personality is actually the biggest part of the causality probability that drives my choices towards some sort of path, but with those choices I can steer my boat in the river of life, as my choices are... choices.

And no. I don't let it get to me.

Some can call it fluke, I call it life :)

I haven't been that lucky. One time I almost got hit by the stealthiest god damn train I've ever seen I stopped right before I could've got hit because my phone was ringing. Other than that no.
