In my opinion, 2008 had a lot of games that could've touched perfection.

-Mirror's Edge jumps to my mind. Since it's innovative. However, EA could have spend a little more time on perfecting the story and lenght.
-Sonic Unleashed would have been better if we had no story(Well, only bad guy wants to conquer the world and you have to stop him is enough), no werehog, no need to pay for levels, etc.

And I could name the whole list.

Anyway, what games you think it needed a tweak or two.

Note* I've searched the forums. I've never seen a thread like this. Post a link if you say it's already been made.

Warhammer Online.

So much potential, yet it was released at least half a year too soon.

Fable II seemed to have so much potential, but there were parts that ruined it for me.
Boss, No armor, no dying, etc.

Oh, and Star Wars: the Force Unleashed. I'm not entirely sure why. I just didn't like it.
I really wanted to, it seemed like it would be great, but while playing it, it didn't grab my attention.

DoW Soulstorm, with a plot could have been good, as it was the campaign was terrible, hammering another nail in the franchises coffin, hopefully DoW 2 will give a bit more W40k plot and story.

In terms of good games that could been better, rather than bad games that could have been good, would be... Mass Effect PC, though good, could have been far better with certain bugs and glitches removed and with a more varied armoury, though I suppose that would be changing a core part of the game to have more weapons and armour that weren't simply different paint jobs.

The plot was no worse than the one in Dark Crusade, in that it was exactly the same. If they had worked a bit harder with the aerial units, ie. making them not bugged beyond use then the added content would have been better. I wouldn't say that the franchise is dead, or anywhere remotely near that. I'd say Dawn Of War 2 will be one of the biggest RTS' of 2009(It and Starcraft 2).

Ok, maybe dead franchise was a bit of an exageration, but it's been pretty dead in terms of campaign play and any sort innovation for the last few expansions. Also the addition of aerial units was... foolish... they were useless, annoying and pointless, meaning they could add a single unit to each race without having to think too hard and gave an added objective to use in every stronghold mission bar Necrons.

GTA4 could of been better with no force dates. I know its been said before but it needs to be said till Rockstar gets the message.

I wish people wouldn't refer to DICE as EA. Sure, technically they're owned by and thereby part of Electronic Arts now, but they're still Digital Illusions. :(

Well, EA is the publisher. They have a deadline for games. If only the deadline was pushed a bit
