Inspired by (read: shamelessly stolen from) IPunchWithMyFists' thread devoted to the Zelda franchise. Itemize the games of the Mario franchise! Include those devoted to Yoshi (and if you like, Wario), but not the Super Smash Bros. or WarioWare serieses. It's the adventure games I'm after here.
I'm really quite interested in how people will itemize these games, and particularly how the well-rated modern Marios (such as Galaxy) compare with the venerated older ones (such as World).
So! Here goes.
1) Yoshi's Island. Utterly brilliantly designed world, beautiful, and with pretty unique gameplay.
2) Super Mario World.
3) Super Mario 64.
4) Yoshi's Story (V short, V charming).
5) Yoshi's Island DS. (Deserves this spot: faithful to the design & gameplay of Yoshi's Island. Great game).
6) Super Mario Bros. 3
7) New Super Mario Bros. (For the DS).
8) Paper Mario (NOTE: Haven't played for long).
9) Super Mario Sunshine (NOTE: Also haven't played for long, but disliked the gameplay).
10) Wario Land.
11) Super Mario Land. (Remember? The one with the alien spaceship?)
12) Yoshi "Topsy Turvy" (also known as "Universal Gravitation". GBA. Pretty but shallow).
I know, I know; the lack of the Galaxy games, and Super Mario Bros. 2, is unacceptable. I played Galaxy briefly, but I need to play it again. I feel like I just didn't "get" it, but will on another play.
Welp! Do it!
CAPTCHA: Wash whites separately. That's pretty racist, Captcha.
