it's 2011, yet many developers haven't fixed these gaming issues...

okay i know what i am about to say is not a big deal. it's not a big game breaker either and it does not turn the games i mention into bad games. its just i feel that in this day and age there should be no excuse to not having these things in most game (i realize number 1 won't work in some games)

1- after finishing the main story campaign. please, PLEASE let me start gaming at beginning of any chapter i want, and not starting at the beginning. uncharted 2 did this well, letting you choose any chapter you want to play after you finished the single player story.

batman:AC didn't, which is too bad. i don't really wanna sit through hours of gaming just to get to the mad hatter section, or the mister freeze boss fight.

2- ffs if your game is cut-scene heavy, or in the case of mgs4, has more hours of cut scene than actual gameplay, please allow me to view the cut scene i have already watched, in the cut scene view mode separate from having to replay the game again.

i know these are not significant issues in a world where gamers debate on second hand game use, dlc, and the absolute power of our overlords ea and activison, but you'd think these small issues would be easier to fix by now.

any of your own to add?

I agree with your number one, as there are plenty of times when I want to go back and replay a certain section of a game, but don't want to play the build-up to it. In something like Arkham City it's a bit harder, but in games with clearly distinct missions, there really should be an option to just go back and replay single parts at your leisure.

As for number two, I'm not that fussed about going and watching cutscenes again outside of the game, but it would be nice if the option was there for people who do want to. I think the more vital aspect of cutscenes is that they should be pausable and skippable. I don't want to miss important plot points because the phone rang, nor do I want to have to watch the same cutscene every time I play a section.

I agree with your number one , sometimes i just want to get to a certain part of a game just to relive a certain epic boss fight , or a perticular section i found perticularly fun , ( of course this doesn't make much sense in a rpg setting but in action games it does ).

You number two doesn't bother me as much as long as there is always the option to skip cutscenes . Any game that doesn't have the option to skip cutscene will never get a second playthrough from me , especially if a game is cut-scene heavy.

I would add , every rpg should have a new game+. Even if they don't want to add difficulty , at least allow me to start a new game with the items i collected so in case i decide to do a second playthrough to complet the game 100%, i don't have to collect things i already have ( not couting items i need to get to progress in story.

Just play Starcraft 2! It has both of these features that you want.

Problem solved :p

Christ, I'd be happy if devs could get the little things like menus and configuration utilities into a usable state these days. On the latter topic a big pet peeve of mine is how crap the button mapping setup is on recent Capcom fighting games (Steet Fighter IV and MvC3).

What I hate is when you can skip cutscenes your first time around XD I will try to pause the game, but often it won't pause the cutscene too, it'll just skip it entirely and then I might have missed some vital story info.

As for chapter revisting...it depends on the story. Assassins' Creed works well because each part is a memory, but a game like Bioshock would fall apart if you could just play any part at random. Some games really need build up (even if you've already seen it before) to be as good as they are. However, in this market, those types of games are getting rarer and rarer.

Unskippable tutorial sections will literally stop me from playing the game.

Crysis 2's "Use the right analogue stick to look up" section, that was drawn out for far too long caused me to stop the game before it was even begun and blacklisted the developer in my mind permanently.

If there really must be a tutorial, take a leaf from a game like Uncharted, very minimal intrusion.

I don't know what happened to the era of pushing the buttons to see what happened, rather than a lot of hand holding.
